This is Laura, my first self insert in any media basically haha, out of anything else I like or have made characters for: wakfu, Splatoon, TLOZ, literally any other anime I've watched... this show about lesbian space rocks is taking over my brain. Anyway, she comes from a small house near the edge of Empire City where she used to live with her parents and older sister, but after her sister got a job, she was home alone a lot. Her parents decided she should live with her grandparents in (recently rebuilt) Ocean Town, which she finds incredibly boring, so she often visits Beach City to hang out at Funland. After moving, she now goes to the same school as Connie, and knows Steven because of this. she isn't really a main character and mostly just wingmans Connie bc she thinks Steven and Connie are cute together, and loves to hang out with Amethyst and Garnet and any new gem who crashes to Earth. (disclaimer: my home life is nothing like this, I still live with parents and sis, and I'm fine lol, dont worry)

Steven and the Stevens!

So, when gems fuse, they dance. Why? Probably to have their space rock equivalent to a heartbeat/brainwave on the same frequency. Steven with Connie and Greg? Probably to have their hearts beat on the same level, both examples reminding me of how when humans sing together in harmony, our heartbeats eventually become the same. So... singing and dancing tend to go hand in hand... What if there was a type of gem fusion never done before- where rather than the two gems physically fusing their forms to create a singular, separate being, they instead fused purely on a mental level, where their bodies are still entirely separate, but they think as one? Garnet, Opal, Sardonyx, Sugilite ect. are all their own separate people with personalities unique from the gems who make them up. These are PHYSICAL fusions. However, let's say that Lapis and Peridot (Lapidot stan here) are doing their meep morp thing and are performing music. They start to sing, and as they keep singing together, they realize that somehow, they can each see out of each other's eyes and are basically moving and thinking as a unit. They stop singing and it lasts for a sec, but in their shock, harmony is lost and their minds separate. This is a MENTAL fusion. Please tell me that I don't sound like a madwoman.
