Still not completely certain what’s going to happen, but regardless I can’t help but find “human fusion” disturbing. It also makes me think of a certain scene in that horror prequel “The Thing.”

Overlooking that, looking back at “So Many Birthdays” and “Cat Fingers,” the way Steven changed his age and body parts (the closest Steven’s been able to change his form like the other gems), looked different than how gems change their forms. Instead of Steven’s body when changing looking like a bright amorphous mass, Steven’s body either had a pinkish aura to it or not while it changed. Already, the show has shown that being half gem half human has made Steven do certain abilities differently.

If ‘fusing’ is a gem ability that is traditionally performed by basically combining constructs (And I guess physically changing gems into other gems? Since the gems' gems are physically real, right?) it would make sense if combing something like a construct and an organic physical body were impossible and instead Steven could only combine with other organic physical bodies. Of course, the only advantage of that I could imagine would be Steven like a giant/mutant/mutant giant but no increase in gem powers since non-gems don’t have any gem powers.

Now all that's left to wonder is if this version of fusing requires 'consent' such as the other gems' fusions' require. And if that's not the case, than that's a whole other level of disturbing...
