<p>I'm guessing that, back on the homeworld, Gems just magically "hatch" out of mineral veins every now and then. </p><p>The Kindergarten technology is probably designed to artificially replicate the precice conditions required for gem formation. </p><p>(Either that, or there were never any natural Gems, and Gems were originally created by some other aliens that we haven't heard of yet.) </p>

<p>My theory would be that they would simply form over years and years, as gems do on our world. </p>

<p>My theory is that Homeworld has many of he same gemsones that Earth does, so it's maybe similar to Earth itself(mineral wise)and they find canyons/ravines/mines etc and they make their Kindergartens there, and the technology "fertilizes" the gems then over time the gemstone develops into a Gem. That's my theory for most of the older gems before they had the Kindergartens, I think then when the planet was made, they were intellegent but very few, so they created the technology to "reproduce" and make new gems from the minerals on Homeworld. And then of course as they kept evolving into Modern Gems, they found new ways to make gems, probably cheaper and more efficent. </p>

<p>I think Gems was made by some magic. Indeed, they don't seem to be "alive". I think, at the beggining, in the Gem Homeworld, there were another species. That species used magic, and they gave "life" to gems, for an unknow reason ( may be to made them slaves, or guardians ). Then, they rebelled and are now some sort of conquerors. </p>

i think that on homeworld gems are just born from the planet but then a gem built a kindergarden to speed it up but in doing so drained the planet stopping gems from being made so now they have to find other planets to use kindergardens on

<p>I'm on board with that theory. After all, Amethyst (who unlike the other gems, was born on Earth) mentioned that the Gems shut down the Kingergartens and prevented them from creating more parasites like her in "On the Run".  </p>
