<p>I have to say during the fight it did feel like Steven was holding back, he even saved Amethyst mid fight from a pillar falling on her. However in the end they were laughing together, Amethyst needed to take out her frustration after getting creamed by Jasper. She does want to beat Jasper however as she said she gets angry and I think that when she gets angry during the fight then she gets sloppy. She has amazing powers, she just needs to control her temper. And in the end Steven was able to bring her out of that slump she was in. She'll get another chance against Jasper and next time she will be ready for her because by then she probably would learn to control her emotions better.  </p><p>Also Steven is very durable and he is using his shield like a throwing weapon. On a separate note this also may help him out in a way because he may probably need to learn to fight more on his own since he may end up in a situation where he has to fight an enemy without connie there to help him. </p>

Amethyst was not jealous of a fusion, she was disappointed in herself that she couldn't beat Jasper. When she reformed, she shouted that she was back and she would protect Steven and Connie, however when she saw that Stevonnie had beaten Jasper, she must have felt useless. I actually don't think she was jealous of Steven, it came across more like self doubt. She believed that she was the worst fighter, however after that battle with Steven she seemed like her own self again. Amethyst will get her rematch against Jasper and she'll be ready next time. </p>

Keep in mind that Jasper didn't really attack much during their fight so we haven't really seen how well Stevonnie can do against Jasper doing her best. But I agree that Amethyst wasn't jealous of Stevonnie themself, but the fact that they could at least hold their own against Jasper where as Amethyst got thrown around like a ball. And considering the fact that she's suppose to be this big, strong Quartz it makes sense as to why she feels this way. I don't think her feelings of self doubt she got from yesterday's have been resolved in this episode, and they will probably come up again in the near future. </p>

<p>I'm glad that Steven and Amethyst have bonded some and are more open with each other now. Even so, it's pretty obvious that neither's problems have been resolved at all yet. Amethyst's insecurities in particular will probably be addressed soon; it looks like "Bismuth" will probably bring them up yet again, and she might find some solace with Peridot and Lapis (mainly Peridot since they're closest) in "Beta" (since that's what I'm getting from the description?) and will hopefully at least be partially resolved by Tuesday. Unless they're planning on drawing this arc out longer... </p><p>Also, I think it would be cool to see Amethyst be the one to defeat Jasper in battle (final or not; could end with Jasper retreating, being bubbled, or being captured). That would help Amethyst regain some self-confidence and might make Jasper rethink what she said in "Crack the Whip" - or at least provide some conflict for her over that, assuming she's not poofed and bubbled. </p>
