<p>Actually, if Rose was against shattering gems, than that means most of the time the crystal gems only poofed homeworld gems. As you can imagine, if they leave any homeworld gemstones behind, which is very easy on the battlefield, especially when you have more important objectives, it pretty much means any gems that aren't bubbled will return anyway. That merciful mindset would heavily limit any casualties against homeworld. In fact, bismuth pointed out that not even Rosie's sword could shatter gems, meaning they could barely shatter anyone even if rose let them. My point is, homeworld was willing to kill, the crystal gems were not. The breaking point would have made a huge difference, because than the crystal gems would actually have a way to inflict permanent casualties on homeworld.
