<p>It's possible that's just a result of the different universe/timeline that SU takes place in. </p>

<p>The Gems are on Earth since the time most Humans were hunting and gathering, these things are probably seen as wonders of nature, like Ayers Rock or Grand Canyon. Only conspiracy theorists like Ronaldo still "report" them.

<p>Buddy did... but a lot of people probably took his books to be a bunch of harmless fairy tales. It's just as well. Imagine if a cache of Gem weapons fell into the hands of organized crime. Or worse, some fanatical human attempted to hunt and kill the Gems, believing them to be threats to humanity. I have suggested before that some of the legends of creatures like Bigfoot, vampires, and werewolves could actually be people encountering rogue or corrupted Gems. Perhaps there is some validity to that theory....

<p>But what about the moon. I wonder how the earth felt about the moon base. I know SU is an alt. In fact I think its been stated that people on Earth know of alien life but rather leave it alone. Maybe they think aliens are all die.

I thought she was Yellow Diamond's court the whole time, at first! I didn't even had no idea Jasper's original Diamond was PD, at all! Along with Rose?! Before she shattered PD. Many surprising, shocking and mind blowing truths keep revealing!! O<i>-x</i>

<p>I think the Crewniverse have at one point mentioned that on the alternate Earth within the SU universe, humans (having evolved as a species alongside all the Gem stuff present on the planet) are sort of used to it being a natural element of their world. They're still uneasy around it, but not as freaked out as a human from our real-life Earth would be if they were to encounter a Gem Monster or somesuch.
