I immediatly saw the same plothole, if two versions of the tape are made it indicates Rose dose not know the babies gender, and remember she is VERY pregnant at the time the tapes are made, delivery is likely iminent here so Rose has not able or interested in determining gender before birth.  Greg is aware of both tapes existing but dose not seem aware of what became of them they were made, he clearly did not put the Steven tape in Lion nor the Nora tape in the desert.  Rose doing both of thouse things makes sense except for the fact she shouldnt exist anymore at the time when the correct tape would be knowable. <p>I would love to have a theory to explain this all but I'm afraid an oversight on the part of the writers is really the most likely explination here because the story just can't be told without this plothole and the central message of magical destiny vs just a child is really the whole point and nicely done. </p> </div> <p>I really suport Lion being a gem or something (PINK DIAMOND AJAJAJA) but Lion being himself it's okay for me, i mean, Lion as himself is a good character, turning him into PD would be both plotwist and wut (for more details go to the thread "Who is Lion's TRUE form?") </p><p>But this show doesn't leave loose ends so it will be explained, i agree with everything you said but they better come up with something about how the correct tape get there and etc </p>

<p>I stand with my simple hypothesis of Rose and Greg going to the doctor and Rose getting an ultrasound in order for her to learn the sex of the child she will never know about! </p><p>In a way it would also be the only way for her to see said child at all given the fact that she was to give up her form in order for her child to have some part of her also be a part of him/her. </p><p>However, I'm wondering why we haven't been shown the pictures that an ultrasounds would produce that new parents get nowadays as keepsakes of those first few moments of knowing about their future child? </p>

<p>Greg would have said something like "Even Garnet couldn't, then we go for an ultrasound and yeah c:", i don't know, an ultrasound is the easiest solution for this, literally, and also, it was never mentioned (what if ultrasound doesn't exist in SU's alternate universe? D:) </p>

<p>All evidence is pointing away from untrasounds or any pre-birth identification of the babies gender. </p><p>That lion himself might have placed both tapes in their location dose not make much sense too me, that hill in the pocket dimension needs to be walked up to get to where the tape was, lion should not be able to climb inside himself, you have to presume that lion is MORE then what he is now for this theory to work, and I don't subscribe to any of thouse theories. </p><p>
</p><p>I can accept lion as we know him now being the one who brought the Nora tape to the desert junk pile but that's not the hard one to explain, heck one of the other crystal gems could have done that on rose's request. </p><p>Also I should point out that the whole notion of two tapes is a bit silly, Rose should just make either 1 tape in which she says 'if your a boy your named Steven, if your a girl your named Nora" and then proceed with all the message, or make 2 tapes and leave both in lion along with all the other momentos of her's that she clearly placed their. </p>

<p>She made two tapes and one was put in that shrine within Lion's dimensional pocket, she clearly wanted her offspring to feel special because she took the time to make one for each of the names that both Rose and Greg decided upon depending on the sex of their child. Rose had to have made the effort of finding out before she was due so that whenever Lion was found by her offspring, he or she would've found the shrine and thus gotten some knowledge of who Rose was outside of Greg's and the Crystal Gem's opinions about her. She meticulously curated that shrine for her offspring's sake, in a way is autobiographical. </p><p>It actually does bring up more questions than it answers, because that means Rose may have wanted her child to know about Bismith and thus solve the conflict? Oh, boy this is bigger than I thought! I mean Lion was unknown to the Crystal Gems and Greg and yet although Lion has the shrine in the pocket dimension there wasn't a guaranteed that Rose's child would ever find Lion, but then again the other tape was also in a similar location as Lion, but supposedly that was no longer needed given the fact that Steven found the tape meant for "Steven" 1st! See! More questions!!! </p>

<p>Lion is the closest thing to a pet cat Steven can get. Keeping that in mind... </p><p>...many cats don't like having their bellies rubbed. I think it had something to do with it being their weak spot. </p>

<p>Garnet keeping secrets from the rest of the team sounds odd to me, but very possible. Her future vision may have told her about the most likely future of Rose's and Greg's future child or Rose entrusted her with the tapes and after finding out that Steve was male, Garnet went on a solo mission to put that tape on the shire (Garnet has done solo missions before). But, why was she told to keep all these secrets from the rest of the team? And it seems no one is none the wiser as to the fact that Garnet was in fact Rose's most trusted ally. </p><p>I mean looking back at this episode Greg seems not to even know about the fact that Steven has the tape meant for him, so he probably wasn't told about the shrine at all by Rose. The shrine was meant to be solely for her child to know and find, which is why I think is autobiographical as it would mean that only Rose knew about it and no one else. However, if true what exactly would have led to her child finding it at all? Lion wasn't​ exactly looking for Steven before that as far as we know, because Lion easily found him later in that same episode! Unless Lion didn't know about Steven before meeting him, so how would the shrine have been found otherwise? </p><p>It seems Lion's role is to deliver info about Rose to her child as he did with the shrine and also with the tape meant for Nora, so it must mean that Rose wanted her child to find it, but so far no indication has been made that Rose left some instructions as to how to find the shrine inside of Lion's dimensional pocket (that we know of). If Garnet does know about Lion it would mean that she knew it was the right time for Steven to know about Lion and the shrine, but in that same episode they had to deal with a rogue Gem, so did she knew that they needed it to fight that Gem as well or was it unintentional that they had to fight the Gem and/or find Lion? </p>

<p>Garnet's future vision and her being the actual leader of the crystal gems fix it, going on solo missions and she, keeping that particular secret fix it, so i can sleep in peace saying that Lion = PD is dead to me :3 </p><p>Is possible that she both know about they were preparing to fight and finding Lion, also, Lion seems like he was keeping an eye on that gem since before </p><p>Also, Garnet putting that tape between "Steven's Lion" and "Lion 3" is unlikely, because, then she could just give the tapes to Steven and end, it means that Lion have a more important purpose, maybe, somehow Steven will be able to talk to Pink Diamond via Lion or something, OR, the chest O_O </p><p>I don't support Pink Diamond coming back, because that could kill Lion, so no </p>
