<p>I have never been able to properly grasp how the world of Steven Universe is supposed to work. On the one hand, there is a perfectly normal somewhat rural seaside town, which seems completely in line with the modern world, cars, restaurants, even a small theme park pier. On the other hand, there is a magical super temple on the outskirts of the town which is constantly the target of attacks from various dangerous and often terrifying creatures, but no one in the town ever reacts in any way. You would think the gems would either be adored as the constant saviors of the town or otherwise reviled for bringing down the ever present danger and doom, but no, no real reactions what-so-ever. Even when a giant comet sized creature was about to seemingly obliterate the entire area with the gems completely helpless to save them, nothing. The town at this point should either be an abandoned ghost town or a military facility. Just seems like bad writing and a half-thought concept to me.

<p>Ronaldo adressed them in Rising Tides, Crashing Skies. It's rather simple: They try not to get involved. While the gems beat monsters, they're the reson the monsters appear in the first place.
</p><p>Not to mention most things they fight aren't even in Beach City in the first place. The gems normamly have to warp to places to fight them.

<p>That's because the basic fundamentals of the show's world relies heavily on <i>suspension of disbelief</i>, it is "<i>willingness to suspend one's critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment</i>".
</p><p>There's literally nothing more to it.
