I saw Mirror Gem, Episode 25 of Steven Universe again today, and when I saw Pearl pull the mirror out of her gem again, a lot suddenly hit me. That was the second time she had ever done that in the series, the first being in episode 14. No other gem has ever pulled an object other than their weapon out of their gem. More importantly is the fact that in episode 14, Pearl pulled out a roll of police tape. Obviously Lapis's mirror was a foreign entity, so we could assume the police tape may have been, too. It's amazing just how much we forgot about in the earliest episodes of the show just because it didn't seem too plot relevant at the time.

The point being, Pearl can presumably store things in her gem. Now, this isn't too far fetched when you consider that Lion and now Lars both have pocket dimensions in their head hair, and the crystal gem temple itself seems to rearrange itself in reality breaking ways. Seeing as how no other gem has ever done this, despite it's obvious usefulness, it has become apparent to me that this is an ability most likely unique to Pearls. But why would Pearls possess this power? Well, remember, Pearls aren't really quite like maids or servants so much as they are like butlers; they are always by their masters side, help them with minor tasks as they go around their business, and are usually quiet, simply standing around and "looking pretty" as peridot phrased it.

They are treated as objects, like tools or appliances to make life a little easier for other gems. Seeing as how they're always by their master's side, it would make perfect sense if they could act as mobile storage chambers, storing crucial items within their gems, and giving them to their masters whenever they're told to. But that's just my best guess as to why Pearl can do this. What do you all think?
