I'd...rather have the movie exist than have Future exist. The movie was pretty good, but what Future did to almost all the characters... it made me hate most of them by the end. Connie, Peridot, and Bismuth survived the series in a good light still, but like, nobody else did. Even Greg and Jasper, who I thought "Ok, these are great characters, I'll still enjoy them in the end"- I didn't! They botched them up too! And I think we can all agree Spinel was a way better character in the movie, I don't think I need to bring up why.

Steven's behavior.... I GUESS is a little better without the Movie, but honestly, it still wouldn't work too well. Actually, rather than having Steven get super violent and trying to hurt other people, it might've been more realistic and in-character for him to channel his PTSD inward. He's always had a martyr complex, and if he thinks his life is constantly in danger and his self worth is at stake... maybe having Steven self-harm in some way would've kept his character feeling like a good guy while also keeping the severity of his condition. It's DARK, but so is the stuff they actually had him do in Future. Instead of trying to shatter White, what if he breaks down and cowers before her, overloaded by trauma, and then runs away? What if instead of shattering Jasper, as the fight goes on, Steven's overwhelmed by all the times he's almost been killed, and decides he just wants it to be over with. he lowers his guard at the climax of the fight, and allows Jasper a clean blow at his gem (And let's say she only cracks it and knocks him out, and he wakes up in the bathtub healed by the Diamond juices with the CGs and Jasper standing over him concerned).

The movie isn't the problem regardless- Future was written after the Movie, and the crew had a specific story they wanted to tell at all costs. They deliberately ignored things and forced things in order to make that happen...

Why don't you want the Steven Universe Future to exist? Not that I'm complaining.
