honestly if there was a fifth diamond, it should be Black Diamond. Also, is it canon that Pink was off-color?

I feel like a Black Diamond wouldn’t work.

It could bring up unfortunate racial implications, especially if she were subservient to White like all the other Diamonds were (and they were, White clearly had more influence than Yellow and Blue).

If she was opposed to the Gem Regime as the “evil” Diamond, Pink was already that. If she was just a straight up evil ruler of the Gem Empire, all the diamonds were that until they suddenly weren’t. If she was an evil Diamond in Era 3, that’s what the murderer is.

Maybe I’m just not being creative enough, but I don’t know what a Black Diamond would do differently than any other Diamond, and by virtue of just being a “Black Diamond” in a series that emphasizes social status and castes, if the crew was not ABSOLUTELY careful and tactful, they could wind up saying something or implying something absolutely horrible and wrong, and I’m guessing that’s why there were never any actual black gems, and especially black pearls. It’s too easy for Homeworld society to romanticize disgusting concepts (just look at all the Gem OCs that have their own Pearls; clearly the messed up nature of that was lost on people), so I think it’s best to keep a Black Diamond off the table.

That’s just my opinion, though. It’s a concept I think is full of complications and not worth the potential risks when paired with the concept of Homeworld Society.

(I don’t think ANYTHING about Pink’s creation was confirmed, actually. Maybe some interview out there mentions her being Off-Color, but as far as I know, nothing’s been said...)
