Unfortunately this happened, not because the administrators agreed with it, but because people were angry that we labeled Gems as Genderless and a vote conducted by the community resulted in this outcome. I support the change to Gender personally.

Gems are genderless but they're also non-binary women at the same time. They're also sexless. By changing it to "Gender," wouldn't the infoboxes on Gem pages need to all be updated to remove the Gender section? Because "Gender" and "Sexless" do not match.

There needs to be a solution that accounts for both human and Gem characters. Remove "Sex" sections from the infoboxes on pages about humans, but continue to note that Gems are sexless. Shep's page is fine as it correctly says non-binary in the Gender section, but Steven's page still lists male as his "Sex". There shouldn't be a "Sex" section on human pages, as it's not confirmed that they're cis, and "gender" already accounts for the human characters' identities.

This also reminds me of a previous discussion where somebody asked what "Shep's real gender" is, even though their real gender is literally non-binary (but I guess whoever made that thread confused sex with gender; still, it was very inappropriate to ask for their assigned sex at birth, especially in the way they did). The point is, people need to be made aware of the difference between sex and gender.

Yeah I agree. I should've made it more clear that I only advocated changing the infoboxes of human characters. I did mention that Stevonnie was an exception.

If some users are willing to change sex to gender for human articles, go for it; you have my approval and may state that in the edit summary. I unfortunately don't have much time to invest in that right now, so I can't assist in the task.
