A bunch of people are saying that this episode will be just a deception compared to what we thought on what it could be. Needless to say that this is wrong and, to back it up, I'll share my thought on the clip, which had some important points:

1st - Presence of Lapis Lazuli;

2nd - Presence of Peridot;

3rd - Presence of a life form made by Steven;

4th - Steven's act towards the pumpkin (carving and hollow it) and the life form act towards Steven;

Now, the thought that most of us share about what is "Gem Harvesting" (being the harvesting of gems, not gems harvesting something) is that a gem, poofed earlier, is taken as an energy source of some mechanism and/or object – the energy is sucked from her just to power up something magically.

With that in mind, comes the 1st point to the stand. Lapis suffered from this. She was beaten 'till being poofed, mistaken as a Earth Rebel and put into a mirror to show to everyone her thoughts and to manipulate it (like arranging, putting and deleting folders in a USB). And her presence is vital for this episode because she lived it. She was harvested, used as an energy source. And to make the dream of the episode talk about gems being harvested 'n' all come to life, she was one of the vital pieces.

Now you ask yourself: "ONE of the vital pieces? There's more?". And I'll say that the second one is also the 2nd point. Peridot has juicy info about Homeworld, just like Jasper (but since, for now, corrupted gems aren't much talkative, let alone our well-known Brute) and Lapis (well, not much. She is a old gem seeing new stuff, like if you we're in '70s, goes to sleep and, suddenly, you are in 2016. Ask some old people about the Golden Ages/Present comparison and you'll get what Lapis was feeling when seeing the current technological Homeworld). And, since she works around tech from Homeworld, the harvesting of gems may be normal there, or at least knowable – that's why the famous Peri-quote "You are going to harvest me!?".

Now, to the dream come true, there's one obstacle on the subject of showing it: It's too much text and almost nothing to show. If Steven Universe – the show – was a novel, that won't be troublesome at all, but since it's an animated series, this problem comes to surface. And, analyzing the 3rd and 4th point together, the problem is gone. Why? 'Cause having a life form (I'll call Jak for now because obvious reasons) and the act and react between Steven and Jak through the clip really had shown something similar to the type of harvesting we want to know and discuss about: "Human Harvesting"!

Ok, before you scream "WHAAAAAT!???" out loud, bear with me a minute, yes? The "Human Harvesting" I'm calling is, basically, the process of organ transplantation (more focused on the part you remove a good and function organ from someone who already had passed away – the part when the surgeon comes with a scalpel, makes an incision and cuts the organ out without complications for the organ itself). That is similar of what the base theory of Gem Harvesting we made: Taking something important and useful to others of the body, whether human or not (now for having problems on the source of the something is beyond the base theory, since the source could be, like organ transplantation, a dead being).

So, with that in mind, it is possible to make a lil' breakthrough on the "Steven carving a pumpkin while Jak is seeing it and being horrified" scene:

– Steven makes a face on the pumpkin, which resembles the incision and, why not, the last preparations of the body when the important thing is already removed;

– Jak being scared and surprised, resembling the Peridot's scared look on the many bubbles and asking the famous quote on some place above this text;

– Steven cutting and hollowing the pumpkin, resembling the base theory of Gem Harvesting (which you call just "harvesting", but I want to be a bit explicative on the terms instead of picking a keyword and just go, y'know), because he removed everything unnecesary (seeds and pulp of the pumpkin) for the important something (the pumkin's hollow body);

– Jak being absolutely horrified of Steven's act, making a comeback of the second dash (the Peridot resembling thing);

With that, you can make a lil' prediction of what will happen in the episode: "Steven will know about Gem Harvesting, remember what he did to that pumpkin while Jak was seeing it and try to make things right".

BONUS: I'm calling that Steven will know this by entering Jak's dreams and, if this comes to light, it could have a Rose shattering PD allusion to Steven.

So, comes that question: "If that's what will happen, why make a clip with almost nothing to be seen". I have two things that, combined, is your answer:

1st -> Let's be reasonable. It this episode was about something linked to the major plot, no smart being will throw the whole truth on the audience's face, because most will lost interest in seeing because "they already know what will occur".

2nd -> Making a clever ruse on something that will say "what will happen" before the actual product coming, making you think and discuss about it is just a marketing play, same used in the synopsis of shows, even this one (seriously, read the synopsis of every major plot important episode and you'll see what I mean). It makes your hype level cooldown and you to make a whole lot of comment on the product.

Conclusion: You don't need to just give up hope and just calling it a "filler" or saying that your hopes are slaughtered. Just wait and see. Even that you saw something that shows only a tiny bit of info about the episode that doesn't go as you planned or as you like does not mean that it will be just "that". Also, the clips that are revealed have some thoughts deep inside it, externally and internally. And, by searching and analyzing, you'll eventually get to the truth or, at least, an probability.
