Gem Weapons

<p>We all know Steven's fusions have unusual "weapons", Smoky has a yo-yo, Rainbow a parasol and Sunstone suction cups (for some reason). But did Rose's fusions have the same? </p><p>Note: Let's forget Obsidian for the moment because we know [both versions had a sword]. But she doesn't realy have her own personality unlike the others. </p><p>There is still some debate on whether Rose's version of Smoky Quartz existed, but if she did, she could have had a different weapon. in "Know Your Fusion" Pearl asked Steven and Amethyst if Smoky's yo-yo works like a "lasso or a flail", if Rose's Smoky existed she would have known what the weapon was like. But then again, it could be Rose never fused with Amethyst separately, but if they did, maybe this Smoky had a flail instead of a yo-yo. </p><p>Prior to "Change Your Mind", I speculated that Rainbow Quartz's weapon might have been a rapier, with the spear making the blade and handle but with the shield making the guard. This makes sense because both Pearl and Rose are skilled with swords and during "It's Over Isn't It" when Pearl says "fusion" she mimes swinging a sword. Granted it could be RQs parasol can be used as a sword, but who knows? </p>

<p>Peridot is a well-liked Crystal Gem (or, should I say, Crystal Clod) but she's never fused or had a weapon pulled from her gem shown. So what could her weapon be? </p><p>Also we know Alexandrite has an arsenal o' weapons and can turn, say, Sugilite's flail into Sardonyx's hammer. But does she have an actual weapon of her own? </p><p>Also, one last thing: Bloodstone. Bloodstone is the name of a gem Ronaldo Fryman claimed he'd be if he was a gem. But could she be real? (I'm 1,000% sure she's a soldier; it's obvious. Duh. ?) </p>

I could really use your help right now ! </p><p>I have an OC named Copper and I would like to create his fusion with Steven, but I don't have any ideas for the gem name or the weapon.... </p><p>So, knowing that my OC is a Copper and that his weapon is an electric fork, could you help me find some gem names (it'd be better if they were quartz names) and fused weapons (it'd be better if they were not traditional weapons like the parasol, the yo yo...) ideas for his fusion with Steven please ? </p>

<p>From what I've seen in the wiki it looks like gems are summoned with weapons, but is that the reality? Most I'm wondering that because Bismuth said she made all the weapons of the crystal gem army here, and she makes a sword if gems automatically had weapons then why would she make a sword? </p><p>Plus if they always had these weapons why aren't gems using them when they are attacked, this could go from ruby and Saphire to the off colors, wouldn't it make more sense for all gems to start with no weapons and have to have their weapons crafted and stored in their gem. </p><p>Plus talks about how certain gems have weapons and certain gems don't because of their gem also doesn't make sense due to a few reasons, one being what blue diamond said, "Your pets are chasing the pearls up and down the halls." if they had weapons to defend themselves wouldn't they just be able to attack them and fend them off?. </p><p>Mostly though this is just a small working theory but wouldn't it make more sense to say no gems have weapons, but weapons can be made for gems? </p>

<p>I think Alexandrite's weapon is a crossbow because she uses mostly ranged weapons (the weapon she uses the most is Opal's bow) and powers (she can breathe fire, a ranged ability). Garnet's gauntlets are the prod, Amethyst's whip is the rope and Pearl's spear is the tiller and the light arrows. </p><p>What do you guys think ? </p>

<p>I have a theory. Fusions weapons made of the fusees weapons. For example, Amethyst's whip and Pearl's spear make Opal's Recurve Bow. I think that can be done without fusing into Opal, just Pearl or Amethyst fuses the weapons to make the bow. What do you guys think?  </p>

<p>Here's another theory I came up with sometime after Reunited, which by the way is my new favourite episode! This one's about Rose's, or should I say Pink Diamonds, shield. </p><p>Now, there has been some debate on whether or not the Diamonds have summonable weapons or not. Of course the reveal of Rose being Pink Diamond <i>seemed</i> to confirm that they do due to Rose having a shield. But then Reunited came out. Yellow and Blue both thought an epic battle with the Crystal Gems, yet neither one of them summoned a weapon, implying they can't. </p><p>But how come Pink can summon one then? </p><p>Now before anyone says "They didn't summon them because they didn't need to", yes, I understand this makes sense in-universe, but not so much production wise. I mean, if Rebecca sugar and the Cruniverse wanted to establish that "Yes, Diamonds to have weapons" then why not show them? Why have something exist then go all the way to miss a huge opportunity (like Reuniteds epic battle) to show them? Why be so secretive? Because of this I don't think they wanted Yellow and Blue to have summonable weapons. </p><p>But what about Pink Diamonds Shield then? </p><p>Well firstly I noticed a few things. One is that no one (especially the other Diamonds) recognised PDs shield. Another is that we never see Rose use her other abilities, like bubble shield and plant control, in any of the war flashbacks. </p><p>The second one can be explained that PD wanted to keep her true identity a secret, and would want to avoid useing her PD powers as much as possible. Even her healing power was just a "rumour". </p><p>As for the first thing. I think that Rose's shield is actually a compressed and modified version of her bubble. possibly modified by Bismuth (complete with the Rose Quartz symbol). And before you say "Bismuth didn't know Rose was PD". True, but maybe Rose made up a story about not being made with a proper weapon and that she needed a shield that was more mobile and better for fighting with. Also, PD could have made those Rose Quartzes (those poor, innocent, wrongly imprisoned, lucky-to-be-alive-because-they-remind-Blue-of-Pink Rose Quartzes) in order to try and justify some of her un-quartz like abilities and lack of. </p><p>But that's just my theory. Anything I left out, please let me know. </p>

<p>OK, so on another post someone said that Pink/Rose has a shield and asked what the other diamond's weapons could be. I replied and I thought, "hey, I think that's a pretty good theory," so I'm reposting my reply here as a standalone discussion. Here is my reply: </p><p>I think since the Diamonds are a "special" type of gem, they more have "special abilities" than "powers." [I meant weapons not powers] Blue can cast an aura to make people sad, yellow looks like she has extreme strength and stubbornness. We haven't seen much of White Diamond yet, but we can assume it's something mind-related (maybe mind-control?), because her gem is on her head. </p><p>I have a theory that Pink's shield was really attained/discovered by her when she was Rose Quartz. It's "Rose's" weapon, not "Pink's." It represented her new beginning as a Crystal Gem, caring for humans and gems alike; "shielding" them from danger, instead of a Diamond. </p><p>The sword was probably attained by her in a similar fashion (for defense against things trying to hurt people she was saving), as neither Blue nor Yellow Diamond knew about the sword, EVEN WHEN SHE WAS A DIAMOND. They both thought it was "Rose's" sword. After she (Pink) discovered "Rose's" sword on Earth in secret, she used it to fake the shattering and then later discovered the shield. </p><p>But hey, it's just a theory... </p><p>A GEM THEORY </p><p>(Edit: OK, I know Bismuth made Rose's sword. But that still doesn't change much.) </p>

<p>Hey there! </p><p>So me and a friend were discussing what fusions we would like to see on the show and were talking about what their weapons might be. What I'd like to know is if anyone agrees/ disagrees with our theories and if anyone has any additional ideas for other/ the same fusions that we have yet to see on the show! </p><p>Our ideas </p><p>Garnet/Steven: In line with Smoky's weapon being a toy, we thought that Garnet's gauntlets would sort of punch together with the sheild in the middle and form a top. </p><p>Pearl/Rose (Rainbow Quartz): We thought that they would probably have some form of umbrella, it just feels right for the combination of their personalities. </p><p>Pearl/Steven: Again, in line with the toy theme with Steven, we thought maybe some kind of pogo stick, with rose's sheild forming the foot pedals and the spear forming the shaft.  </p><p>

Feel free to discuss weapons for fusions that would probably never happen (homeworld and crystal fusions) and also fusions we've seen but don't have a weapon for.  </p>

<p>WARNING: This is NOT my own theory, this is mearly an ANALYSIS of an existing theory. I didn't come up with it, I'm only giving my opinions. </p><p>Theres a theory that Gems that share the same placment will share the same weapon e.g. Gems with gemstones on their navels all have sheilds, palm gems have gauntlets, head gems have spears ect. but could this be true? </p><p>First of all, I would like to say that I'm one of the majority that assume not all Gems can summon weapons. So, Peridot can't summon weapon but if this theory is true she would theorticaly have a spear. </p><p>The theory does kinda make sence, It's beleved that the Gem placement is related to peronality (Pearl and Peri are both smart) and at the same time so are Gem weapons (Stevens careing personaliy gives him a shield) so there could be a conection. </p><p>Also, the gemstone placements do occasionaly fit the weapons, such as Gauntlets going over hands, Helmets protecting heads/faces, Topazes gemstones are on her ears and her weapon looks like a cotton swab (sorry). </p><p>The only catch is Amethysts whip which is suggested by bismuth to be unusual amonst Quartzes. This could just be our amethsts whip looks different to a regular chest Quartz whip (Amethyst is different after all) or Bismuth hasn't met a chest Quartz. Also Holly Blue has a whip too suggesting Gem weapons and placements are unrelated, but her whip is different and it could just be that some placements (in this case chest and back of head) have the same weapon. </p><p>
</p><p>My opinion? </p><p>It's too early to tell. </p><p>The only gems to have both the same weapon and placement are the Topazes, but there supposed to be identical anyway. So, until we see a Gem who shares the placement og another but a different type summon her weapon (like if we see Navy summon her weapon) that that would either dissprove or support the theory. But until then it's just headconon. </p>

<p>A few months ago I came up with a theory about why Pearl has a weapon despite being made to be a servent. The original theory was that all Gems wether they're soilders or civillians need a method of self defence incase of danger, and since Pearls powers can't be used offencively she was given the power to summon a weapon. </p><p>After a mix off watching new episodes and general thinking I don't think this is the case anymore. Firstly ,if you look past the Diamond tyranny and the culling of unfit Gems, Homeworld seems like a pretty safe place to live. Theres no dangerous wild animals, there's likely many gaurds and defence robanoids. </p><p>The only fit/law abiding Gems that get exposed to danger are soilders, those in charge of collonization (i.e. Bismuths and Lapis') and those sent on special missions (although they're given escorts and Gem tech). Pearls, Zircon, Sapphires and the like are not likely to be in danger (unless they upset the Diamonds). </p><p>Speaking of Zircon, she even said that if her mistress was under attack the worst she would do is cry in alarm "Watch out my Diamond!" </p><p>So whats my new theory? </p><p>Well, remember Holo-Pearl? Well they can create weapons like spears, swords and axes out of nothing too. Holo-Pearl and their weapons are also tangible as well just like a Gem weapon. </p><p>My guess is that Pearls spear started life as a hardlight hologram just like the Holo-Pearl summons. Now if you remember, Pearl started with normal swords but used a spear sometime after Bismuth joined. So I think that Bismuth may have took Pearls holo-spear and transformed it into a more stable permanent form. After all, the fact that they didn't question Bismuths ability to upgrade weapons implies that it may not have been the first time she's done it. </p><p>This means that thoereticaly Pearl could summon any weapon she wants, althought they won't be as strong as her Bismuth enhanced spear. </p><p>Now, how exactly can Bismuth upgrade summoned weapons? No idea. I you have any theories about that please tell me. </p>

<p>There have been many confusions about weapons. So like "What is so-and-sos weapon", "thingy does not have a weapon because shes not a soilder", "Her weapon is (insert name of elemental power)". </p><p>I am going to go through each problem and try to solve them </p><p>Fristly: Civilians CAN have weapons for self defence. </p><p>This is something I have mentiond before, but weapons are not just for fighting. If your going to an alien planet with life on it, weather it's to build, explor or terraform chances are the natives are going to attack you. So, you need to be ready to defend yourself (more information here ). Althoght not all gems use actual weapns to fight. Witch is my next point. </p><p>Not all gems have weapons because not all gems <i>need</i> weapons </p><p>If you read my link then you are aware that some gems use there powers for defence (e.g. Bismuth uses her shapeshifting hands as weapons as well as tools). Soilders (like Quatzs and Rubys) have both powers and weapons because they need to be as strong as possible. Pearls can have weapons because there powers can't be used defenively, and peridot's have blasters in there limb enhances to replace weapon summoning. </p><p>Weapons vs powers. </p><p>In regards to Sapphire I have heard people say that things like ice or future vision are her weapon. The confusion comes from something Ian said about Lapis' weapon Ever since this people have assumed that any power a weaponless gem has is her weapon. Personaly I don't think Ian ment water control is literaly her sommond weapon, but rather it's the thing she uses to attack with (similar to Bismuths weapon hands). Sapphire dosen't have a weapon because she dosn't need one. Read here for more info on Sapphire. </p><p>And as for Lapis' water wings. I think there more akin to Steven bubble or Pearls holograms then a weapon. </p><p>So in summary </p><p>Rubies and Quatz gems have sumond weapons as well as powers because there ment to fight. </p><p>Some Gems like Lapis and Bismuth don't have weapons because their civillians, but can use there powers as weapons if needed. </p><p>Pearl isn't ment to fight, but has a weapon for self defence because none of her powers can be used to fight off an attacker. </p><p>Peridot is Era 2 so all her powers came from her Limb Enhances which have a blaster in them </p><p>And Sapphire dosn't need a weapon because they have Ruby gaurds, and if that fails they can freeze their attacker or run/float away. Also they have future vision, so they can predict (most) dangers before they happen. </p><p>As for the Diamonds...Who knows. </p>

</p><p>Pearl on the other hand not only needs to protect herself but also her mistresses home as well. </p><p>But why did our Pearl need to train? </p><p>Well it's implied that our Pearl belonged to a Diamond (either White or Pink) meaning she wouldn't have had to use her weapon due to them already having quartz soldiers and other defences. So I don't think it was so much "learning" but rather relearning how to summon her weapon </p><p>What do you think? </p>
