I don't think it's White Diamond who cracked Pink Pearl, as the wikia suggests. Not only does it conflict with her ideal for everyone to be as perfect as herself, but there's also evidence suggesting Pink Diamond may be the culprit. In the dream in Jungle Moon she gets angry and smashes something, seemingly a mirror, but there are few mirrors on homeworld, I can't recall having seen any. I think what she smashed was really her pearl at the time, and that the event is made abstract by the dream.

The pattern is very similar to the crack in Pink Pearls face

This doesn't fit the ethic of Pink after she becomes Rose Quartz, but it is believable when considering the childish and emotional spoiled aristocrat Pink was before then.
Pink Diamond was given Crystal Gems Pearl along with earth as a colony. From the information we have, the most likely chronology is this: Pink broke her pearl in a fit, wanting her own colony, White replaces her pearl and gives in to giving her a colony.
Then White Diamond would have taken control of Pink Pearl, as she could only be "perfect" again through her light.

When Blue Diamond talks of "taking away" Pinks pearl in Change Your Mind, I think she means the Crystal Gems Pearl and not Pink Pearl as many have assumed. From the event described by Blue it happened after Pink was given her colony, which means Crystal Gems Pearl was her pearl at the time. Pink really cared about Pearl so it was a threat of her love as well as her freedom, and it may have been the final straw for her to leave homeworld forever to live as Rose. (Corrected by comments)

I'd love to hear some input on this, as I'm sure there are things I've missed. This theory's been nagging at my mind ever since Pink Pearl appeared as White's pearl.
