I loved Wanted, especially The Trial. It was full of tension and revelations and we learned more about Homeworld. But something annoyed me about the episode. I didn't really like the Diamond reveal. It was a good twist but something felt odd about it. I hear a lot of people saying that they hope Pearl is involved in the shattering of Pink Diamond and I do too, but I highly doubt it. When they announced that Rose shattered Pink, it was an amazing reveal. Up until that point, the struggle against Homeworld didn't really feel grounded in Steven's life. Yes, he was raised by The Crystal Gems and he knows Homeworld is bad so he has to fight against them, but other than that, the battle had no intense emotional relevance to him in the way that The Rose Shattered Pink Diamond Reveal did. This reveal allowed some really interesting development for Steven. Not only did he inherit her war, but he inherited her crime as well. But when it was revealed that it was a Diamond, I was actually disappointed. It felt like a step back. Homeworld, somehow, felt like it lost its emotional connection to Steven's life. Remember, the Gem War was Rose's war, not Steven's. Now that his mother was not involved in Pink's death, it just feels like a Diamond problem rather than a Steven problem. If Pearl was somehow involved in Pink's death, it make the war personal again for Steven would allow for some incredible development for both Pearl and him. The show has always been about Steven fermenting his own path rather than following Rose's, especially in the light of the first reveal; now it seems that focus has been lost with this reveal. Perhaps it's too early to know the ramifications of this reveal on Steven's life, but I just wanted to get it out there. It was still an awesome episode and I can't wait to see where the show takes this revelation.

This may not have anything to do with her powers, but maybe "cooling and cleansing" could have something to do with her purpose on Homeworld? Aqua appears to have a talent for organising and creating order, which should have something do with her original purpose on Homeworld. The term "cleanse" can often be used to refer to a mass genocide of some form; to erase a group of people in order to create one's perception of purity. If you combine this idea of cleansing with Aqua's affinity for order, perhaps her ability to "cleanse" means that she works in the judicial system of Homeworld? Could she work as some form of judge or executioner, condemning rogue gems to certain fates, like shattering, thus "cleansing" her environment? This would be a pretty dark purpose for a Gem to have but it would make sense. That could be the reason why Pearl was so afraid of her. It would also make Aqua's rank so high up that Blue Diamond would be able to send her personally.

I know! I feel like the song after the credits is supposed to build up to the Homeworld Invasion. But I also think it has something to do with Pink Diamond or The Corruption Song. Maybe it's what we hear in a corrupted person's head? The song that plays over and over, driving them mad and drowning out their emotions?

I think they should bring Teen Titans back. Not the insult to animation itself that is Teen Titans Go. But the proper one. They need to get the same voice actors back, go back to the original serious style and tone, but bring in new writers that will breathe new life into the cartoon while honouring the original. I can't believe an entire generation of kids are going to grow up thinking that TTG is the definition of Teen Titans.

The Cure for Corruption?

I've been developing this theory about the cure for corruption. A lot of people say it's Steven's healing saliva but I think it's something deeper than that. I think the answer has been there all along. I think that the end song, Love Like You, is the cure for corruption. Think about it; a gemstone is literally a gem's soul; their emotions and personality. It wouldn't make sense to try and heal the physical form by physical means when the problem is a corruption in the soul and mind itself. I believe that when the corruption song was heard; it corrupted people by suppressing their true emotions, which would've turned them into unfeeling, confused monsters, reducing them to their most animal instincts. All of their real emotions (love, fear, loss, rage) are buried deep, and it manifests as aggression. The reason that Centipeetle was healed for as long as they were by Steven's spit was because they developed a connection with Steven beforehand. Centipeetle had already started the process of tapping into their true emotions again, but not enough to completely self-heal. I believe this method was hinted in Mindfulness when Connie said; "You have to acknowledge how bad it feels so you can move on." Music is such a prominent part of SU. It would make sense for a disease that was caused by music was cured by music. Also, the lyrics themselves sound like the point of view of a corrupted gem looking at a non-corrupted person; "When I see the way you act / Wondering when I'm coming back / I could do about anything / I could even learn how to love" or "I always thought I might be bad / but now I know it's true / cause I think you're so good / And I'm nothing like you" I think if someone sings "Love Like You" to a corrupted gem, it invokes their deeper emotions and it overcomes the corruption. Also, I think the upcoming seasons are going to focus on Steven making his own path rather than following Rose's. I don't think it would be good for him if he used his mother's powers to cure corruption. I think, if he sang Love Like You (maybe on his ukulele), it would do the trick. I have more to this theory but I'm too tired to write it right not ?.

Is the promotion of the episode itself an allegory for the story in the episode? Steven Universe fans were lead to be excited about this episode because there would be answers about Pink Diamond and the war and getting to know Rose. However, it turns out that the episode is focused Steven's personal anxieties about his relationship with his mother and his inner turmoil. He has been lied to about Rose and led to believe she's something she's not, but is starting to develop a deeper understanding of her. In parallel, we were essentially lead to believe by many that this episode is something it's not, but despite not giving us what we wanted, it provided us with a deeper understanding of Rose.
