58. Eating Centipeetle's Chaaaps

<p>If Centipeetle was a Homeworld Gem then her story almost mirrors Lapis Lazuli's (pun unintended), including being abandoned on Earth, how Steven reached out and befriended them, and eventually both Centipeetle and Lapis Lazuli sacrifices themselves in some form to protect him. Even though Centipeetle and Lapis Lazuli were friendly to Steven, they remained wary of the Crystal Gems and returned the Crystal Gems' hostility in kind. </p><p>To be honest there is a higher probability that Centipeetle was a Crystal Gem due to the hasty evacuation from Earth by Homeworld Gems, but we're in need of some competent villain material on Earth(silly Rubies) and Steven unleashing another Big Bad would fill in the space that Malachite left behind. I have not forgotten about Jasper... Jasper + Centipeetle = Tiger's Eye? </p>

<p>Ah ha! If Bismuth is a crafter/weaponsmith then the Crystal Gems could combine her crafting skills with Peridot's modern Homeworld engineering skills (and some help from Pearl) for some shiny new weapons that are effective against Homeworld's current stuff (like upgrading the light canons). </p><p>It is a shame that Amethyst got rid of most of the parts of Peridot's limb enhancers because the CGs could have tried reverse engineering Homeworld tech... </p>

<p>This is a difficult question. Rather than saying she belong to White Diamond or Pink Diamond personally, I'm going to hazard a guess from which faction Pearl comes from. The Rubies has pretty much ruined the colour wheel theory that certain Gems belong to certain Diamonds according to colour as both Team BD and YD have Rubies. Pearl could have belonged to any of the four factions, however she has on two occasions worn a Pink Diamond symbol on her spacesuit (let's not forget Sardonyx's Pink Diamonds on her shoes - and we know that Sapphire was a Blue Diamond follower and Ruby was assigned to her) Pearl definitely belonged to someone from Pink Diamond's team. </p><p>Pearls are made to order servants and their ownership is not limited to Diamonds. As CG Pearl is described as fancy, I believe Pearl to have been created for someone in Pink Diamond's court. I don't think that Gem was Rose Quartz, for in "The Answer" the pair are described by Garnet as "Rose Quartz, the leader of the rebellion, and her terrifying renegade Pearl". Pearl was considered to be a renegade by Homeworld rather than just a Pearl following her master's orders as other Pearls do. </p><p>The TL;DR version is: Pearl once belonged to a high-ranking member of Pink Diamond's court but ran away to be with Rose Quartz (hence why she was deemed to be a renegade Pearl). </p>

• Pearl and Lapis: It was Pearl who used Lapis Lazuli like a tool in that mirror for thousands of years. Lapis may have issues with Peridot, but I would like to see how she deals with Pearl.
• HW Rubies and Garnet: HW Rubies learn from Garnet what it is like to be a mixed Gem fusion and life on Earth
• Lapis and Greg: A musical episode with the Water Witch, please!
• Amethyst, Steven and Jasper: The Crystal Gems have tried protecting Amethyst by not telling her about her Quartz heritage  (and Steven too). If Jasper is "redeemed" I would like to see Jasper teach the CG Quartzes what it truely means to be a Quartz (loyalty, honour, etc) which would then help Amethyst and Steven understand Rose Quartz more.
• Ronaldo and Jasper: Jasper learns about humanity and Ronaldo gets more info for his conspiracy theories. It's a win-win situation.
• Amethyst and Lapis Lazuli: We don't know how long Amethyst spent alone after she emerged from the Kindergarten, but she still bears the scars. It would be insteresting if these two share their experiences to help each other heal.
• Onion and Jamie: This would be epic!
• Videlia and Jasper: Some quality time with Videlia would have Jasper rebelling against Homeworld for sure.
• Lapis, Peridot and the inhabitants of Beach City: Both of these Gems need to learn more about their human neighbours..
• Sapphire and Lapis Lazuli: There's some unfinished Blue Diamond Court business there
• Yellow Diamond and Jasper: We all want to know what will happen next
• Jasper and Pearl: A chance to see two sides of the Rebellion and to learn more about what really happened during the war
• Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond: Are the Diamonds really working together, or is there some back stabbing going on in the shadows? I'd love to know what goes on between these two Gems
• Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz
• Pink Diamond and the rest of the Diamond: Was PD a friend of a foe?
• CG Pearl and the Diamonds: Pearl know just a little too much about the Diamonds (their secret base). What was her connection with them?
• Rose Quartz and Lion
• Stevonnie and Connie's parents.

</p><p>On a more serious note, I think that all Lapis Lazulis have wings commng from their backs regardless of where there gemstone is located. I also think that Lapis Lazulis are used for scouting, surveying and information gathering. They were never meant to be military units despite their strength. </p>

<p>I think that there is more evidence in the series supporting Amedot, whereas I see Pearl and Amethyst as big sister/little sister. I'm not a shipper, but if I really had to pick a couple then it would be Jasper and Centipeetle. What I mean by that is what if Jasper recognized Centipeetle's gemstone as that of her one true love back during the days of the Rebellion, someone who she couldn't be with because they were on opposing armies, so Jasper joins the Crystal Gems to help find a cure for Centipeetle? Jaspeetle! </p>

<p>The current situation reminds me of Camp Pining Hearts - although many people have thought Pierre represented Jasper, we never actually saw that character. I wonder if Pierre is actually Amethyst. Currently Peridot (Percy) is doing everything to get Lapis' (Paulette) attention in an attempt to befriend her, but in reality the perfect pair who complement each other is Peridot and Amethyst. </p><p>A lot of people thought Pierre was Jasper because he was a "force to be reckoned with" on land and good at sports, but Peridot has already commented that Amethyst can do whatever a normal Quartz could do (Too Far). </p><p>I do think that there are more signs that point towards a budding romance between Amethyst and Peridot than between any of the other Crystal Gems (Garnet is already a relationship). I know a lot of people place Lapis Lazuli with Peridot, but I think Lapis Lazuli's story will be focusing more on healing the wounds of her trauma. Peridot is the main focus of her anger, but Lapis does have issues with the other Crystal Gems (watch out Pearl!) </p>

<p>I have no idea who Rebecca Sugar could be refering to, however I think that a guest star will be a female singer voicing a fusion, not another Diamond. We still have some combinations involving Rose Quartz to see, so we may get a flashback involving one of those fusions, however I think that the most likely scenario is a Peridot fusion. </p><p>I hope that they keep Centipeetle's and Lion's identities a secret for now, but I do believe that they both had pivitol roles during the Rebellion. (I think Centipeetle has something to do with the fusion experiements and the Cluster hence her fearful reaction specifically towards Garnet in Monster Buddies, whilst Lion just happens to know the exact location of the Diamond Base on the Moon and managed to access it via teleportation...) </p><p>It is possible that the guest star is male though, but unlikely to be a Gem unless Steven fusing with Amethyst produces a strange Purple Puma-esque Gem. </p>

<p>Without venturing into Spoilerville we can officially say that there will be more singing and crying, but not necessarily from Pearl.  </p>

<p>I've just remembered something. In "Steven the Sword Fighter" there are a lot of references to the anime Revolutionary Girl Utena - I think there was one big reference that we may have overlooked. </p><p>To cut a long story short, in RGU duellists battle for the ownership of the Rose Bride (Anthy), whomever gets her gets the oppotunity to bring revolution to the world (I'm trying not to make this too spoilery), and they have the ability to summon a sword from the Rose Bride to fight with. </p><p>In this episode Pearl mentions how she learned the concept of chivalry at the Ancient Sky Arena, something that she could not have done during the rebellion, she was already living by the code of chivalry at that time. This means that Pearl learned about chivalry before the rebellion and as she was not built for fighting, the only way she would have been able to do this was by observing other Gems at the arena. This also means that the Gem she was created for most likely fought at the arena. </p><p>Now it is possible that she witnessed Rose Quartz fighting at the Sky Arena, but it's highly unlikely Pearl was actually created for Rose Quartz. I think there is another parallel here with Revolutionary Girl Utena, that Rose Quartz duelled another Gem for the ownership of CG Pearl, that CG Pearl's owner may have mistreated her in some way.  As Rose Quartz was likely to have been a follower of Pink Diamond then CG Pearl adopted Pink Diamond's logo. </p><p>So instead we need to look at another Gem, a high-ranking warrior who actually fought at the Sky Arena. There is one such Gem... </p>

<p>There is a statue of a quartz-like warrior with a huge mace and a gemstone placed in her forehead at the Ancient Sky Arena. If this warrior was a high-ranking member of White Diamond's court then I think that it is very likely that this individual was Pearl's owner, not White Diamond. TBH there are a lot of Gems to choose from, but we can at least narrow it down to a high-ranking member of White Diamond's court. </p>

<p>I didn't think of that, I love the idea however I'm not entirely sure Sardonyx, Sugillite or Alexandrite share Garnet's heat resistance. It would be cool if Garnet did fuse with Peridot, but I'm wondering if this may end up being the first time we see Ruby fuse with another gem without Sapphire to retain her heat resistance... You know where I am going with this... Garnet may actually unfuse for Peridot so that Ruby can fuse with Peridot. It would be the fusion no one would expect and probably more favourable than a Pearl/Ruby fusion (emotion-wise).

<p><i>(About Pearl's desperation to be stronger via fusion, this is an excellent reason why Pearl should never, ever fuse with Jasper or Lapis Lazuli... ever.)</i> </p><p>Considering Peridot's views about Quartzes and her shipping rant on "Log Date 7 15 2", I think that it is more likely that if Peridot goes "fusion crazy" then it will be with another Quartz (I'm not sure about Steven as his human-side may play a factor) and not Garnet. Garnet is strong, but I think Peridot currently equates strength to the brutish/berseker-style force of Quartzes. I predict that Pearl/Peridot and Garnet/Peridot fusions will be the least likely to go all "Sugillite" and try to take over the fusion. </p><p>With Sugillite we were dealing with two volitile Gems (Ruby and Amethyst) which pretty much took over any stablizing/rational influence Sapphire had. In Sardonyx the Ruby part is kept in check not just by Sapphire but also by Pearl. Peridot may do some crazy stuff but it's usually centered about analysizing and learning about the world around her - she's no wild Quartz. She's less emotional than Pearl and much more objective... I kind of think that the Peridot/Sapphire part of a Garnet/Peridot fusion would produce a "stone cold Betty" on the scale beyond Opal. </p><p>I have this feeling that the optimum (most balanced) fusion for Peridot (if stablized) would be with Lapis Lazuli. They are pretty much opposites, Peridot is forward thinking, quick to adapt to new situations and objective yet weak in strength (magic and physical) whilst Lapis pretty much lives in the past yet is strong with magic - they would compliment each other quite well. </p>

<p>I think it depends on whether Jasper is forced to join the Crystal Gems or whether she joins on her own accord. If she is forced to join then I think she will spend most of her time still being a bully, pointing out everyone else's weaknessed and flaws until Peridot gives her the traditional Crystal Gem "Welcome to Earth" speech (As Pearl said to Garnet, and in turn Garnet said to Peridot... now it's Peridot's turn). </p><p>If Jasper joins on her own accord and if it is for something like protecting Earth & Homeworld (you never know what threat may pop up) then I think she will want the Crystal Gem team to be at their peak (combat wise) - therefore she will take on the role of a drill sergeant whether the CG want her to or not *lol*. Where Pearl has become Connie's tutor, I think Jasper would be more suitable to train Steven (and even Amethyst). Jasper is a fully trained Quartz Warrior who has probably had the same sort of quartz warrior training on Homeworld as Rose Quartz did (that is something all of the other Crystal Gems lack). She also knows a lot about Rose Quartz's tactics, and unlike Pearl who sees nothing but sunshine, rainbows and kittens when she thinks of Rose Quartz (think of Rose's Scabbard and what Pearl said about Rose Quartz's "victory"), Jasper actually looks at Rose Quartz's tactics objectively. Jasper may be selfish and petty, but I think everyone can admit that she's willing to do whatever it takes to win a fight, and that would be handy for the Crystal Gems' team. </p><p>I think that Jasper is currently the only Gem on Earth that can possibly help Steven achieve his full potential as a fighter as well as teach him current Homeworld tactics. </p>

<p>It's possible that the Diamonds did attempt to eliminate all traces of Rose Quartzes, but we don't know if any other Rose Quartzes joined the rebellion and ended up corrupted and possibly bubbled/captured by the Crystal Gems in the past. </p><p>We don't know where all of the other Rose Quartzes were when CG Rose Quartz initiated the Rebellion or who they were serving at the time. We've seen that at least one Diamond has and still is acting alone (Yellow Diamond/Cluster), it's crazy but where Blue and Yellow Diamond fought Rose Quartz, we still don't know for certain what White Diamond did, she could easily have recruited RQs as she could destroy them (and if RQs are the only tank-type Quartzes, would WD throw away that advantage? She may not have used them on Earth during the Rebellion but Homeworld's empire is potentially huge if you believe that all of those planets depicted with the Diamonds on the Moon Base murals are pay of the Gems' empire. RQs had plenty of places to go. </p><p>Finally there is a chance that RQs could have escaped and gone into hiding on another planet and/or moon. It would be the equivalent of Yoda/Luke Skywalker from Start Wars where an RQ is waiting for Steven to accept his magical destiny and training to harness the full potential of the Rose Quartz gemstone. </p><p>It would be funny if fans were partially right about CG Rose Quartz was her adopted identity and not her true one. But instead of Pink Diamond, may be she was originally known as Pink Quartz. The curls, the shield with Rose sigil, that could have been CG RQ's way if reinventing herself after the loss of Pink Diamond - she might have been there to witness PD get overthrown by another Diamond(s) hence why she could not serve a different Diamond (I think Rubies switched sides from PD to BD and do did many other Gems in BD's court). So technically there also may be no other RQs as the rest of CG Rose's kind are still Pink Quartzes ( it's amazing what a change of name can do, lol) </p><p>Tl;Dr version: RQ could be a title Steven's mum chose. RQ might be a Pink Quartz. Other Quartzes like her could be in hiding on other planets or may simply be serving other Diamonds (WD) </p>

<p>There's a place suitable for Jasper. Although it is an historic landmark, it's structure is still sound. It has a great view of the ocean. It's a place where you could be truly alone if you wanted to be... and if you didn't want to be... </p><p>Stick Jasper in the Diamonds' Moon Base - Problem Solved. </p>
