<p>I think Steven renaming them for his own convenience without asking how they feel about it is pretty insensitive, maybe racist. I hope the show will adress that soon. Maybe voiced by Crystal Gem Ruby?

<p>Ok, I'll try something: </p><p>Maths are like Peridot in reverse: it's created as abstract meep morps, then used as a technical tool. It starts as a free Crystal science, then bend to the tyrannical rule of Homeworld physics. Or, like Jasper, it's corrupted and become economy and used as a justification to broadcast more Teen Titans Go and less Steven Universe.

It is just that every math advance that has been claimed to be totally abstract and of no practical value, has, within 50 years or less, turned out to be critical for some specific physical application. Boolean algebra was considered an oddity of little real use until computers were invented. Tensors were considered completely useless until Einstein started using them for General Relativity, etc. </i></div>

And I think the way Amethyst and Pearl handle their grief parallels the way Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond mourn Pink Diamond: one wants to move on, the other wants to remember and cry.
