So this may not be everyone’s cup of tea, BUT

I redesigned pink diamond

I’m planning to redesign a few Steven universe characters, and I started with pink because it would just be a fun idea.

Her initial design is already flawless, so I tried reimagine the design instead of improving it

I tried in incorporate more “ doll “ -like elements into her design ( more bows, more frilly, ect )

I lothnted the colours of her clothes

I designed her hair to sorta symbolize jester-like pigtails

I made her skirt more frilly and added a choker to symbolize her voice being restricted by the other diamonds

Why did the gems on obsidian stay their regular size, but grow on fusions like malachite and sardonyx?

I put nobody ( but garnet ) in s because picking was too hard 😭

On and this rose quartz doodle I made too

So basically, it’s a fusion of spinel and volleyball

I tried to design her based off of a doll

Okay so, first design

I posted it here sometime in the summer

This was my draft with no guidance. I tried to draw them in the su style, but you can’t really tell from this sketch 😭

From this sketch, I realized how different the fusion looked from two gems.

Initially, I wanted the fusion to have the same face shape as blue diamond, basing her on a pyrope. While I like this design, it doesn’t really suit how fusions really work, as I was just merging the clothes, giving her design no distinct structure on what she’s supposed to be based on.

Additional stuff

One of my favourite features of this design was her retractable arms

Basically, she can spiral her hair arms up into two buns, like Volleyball’s

Also, those ballet boots are just a way for her to keep balanced all the time lol. You don’t have to worry about her ankles because I’m 99% sure spinel doesn’t have any.

Oh and shes a certified INFP. Definitely a dreamer. When designing this fusion, i didn’t really like spinels personality in the future ( I’m sorry… I loved that series so much but that was a total 180 for me 😭 😭 )… so I thought if I kept both of their personalities from both the end of movie and the end of volleyball, they’d have something similar to mega pearl ( who’s design I ADORE - btw )

Gem Weapon

Okay, so this one was really fun

JUST ASSUMING spinel had another rejuvenator on her, I found a nice way to combine both the ribbion wand and the electric scythe

The art isn’t the best, BUT

Hear me out - a retractable sword, just like her retractable hair arms

I felt like while her hair arms can serve as fists, she has to have something to occupy her arms.

I took inspiration from Raya for this weapon, as it’s kind of like an electric slinky sword

ILL DO A BETTER DRAWING OF THIS IDEA IN THE FUTURE

I felt like having this sword would still keep some properties of the rejuvenator, ( ex. The blade will also be like, electrical when it extends ) making it easy to slice through things without actually resetting them.

Anyways

This was just a fun idea I had because I generally just love the designs and personalities of the two. I would have LOVED to see them interact but like, it probably wouldn’t make too much sense in the limited time frame… I could totally see them getting along.
