I think the Rubies might have bad long-range vision. They seem to be built for hand to hand brawling, maybe their eyes are optimized for close-range vision.

There are five more Rubies. If the Crewniverse wanted one of them to identify as male and use male pronouns, it would be pretty easy to write that into the storyline. I think that might be the plan, the one with the goggles seems male-coded.
If it happens this season, I'm guessing it would probably be in Tiger Philanthropist.
We've never seen Rose Quartz levitating upwards like Sapphire, but she did that Princess Peach hover fall thing in Story for Steven and The Answer.

We're supposed to be getting new episodes in Juny, July and August, so I'm pretty sure we'll get at least half of Season 3, and we might even get the entire season.
(They changed the season numbering. Season 2A got relabelled as Season 2, Season 2B got relabelled as Season 3, and the two halves of the old Season 3 is now season 4 and 5.)
Episode 104 is the Season 3 finale (or the Season 2B finale under the old numbering scheme). If they're going to air all 26 episodes of Season 3 this summer and they've already finished 2/3 of them, they'd still have more than 3 months to finish the rest of them, which would be more than enough time.
They've finished writing & storyboarding & recording the voice tracks, but there's plenty of work left after that, animation and colouring and music and compositing all take time.
It takes about 9-12 months to make an episode from start to finish. If voice recording is about 1/3 of the way thorugh and they finished recording the dialogue for the season finale back in November, the episode might might not be finished until July.
(I mean, yeah, they've definitely finished a bunch of Season 3 episodes already, but probably not all of them yet.)

Because of those factors, they probably decided that the best option would be to save up a bunch of episodes so they could air them together over the summer for the Summer of Steven event.
Oh, also, CN decided to change the way that seasons are labelled.

I'm guessing they probably did it because "5 month break between Season 2 and Season 3" sounds better than "5 month hiatus in the middle of Season 2".
I'm guessing they probably decided to re-label things because "When does the new season start?" sounds way better than "How much longer is this mid-season hiatus going to last?", and because 28 to 38 episodes per year sounds better as "1 to 1½ seasons per year" instead of "½ to ¾ of a season per year".
Matt Burnett said they'd announce more details "closer to June", which I'm guessing probably means some time in May.
