<p>Steven probably had his reservations but kept them to himself to avoid complicating the situation with the Off Colours. </p>

<p>Having nothing to do isn't really the problem. We know solitary confinement can cause psychological harm, the fact that she could see others yet wasn't able to talk to them likely made that worse. She could see her freedom but was so far from it. If you're stuck like that for thousands of years then it's going to cause issues. </p>

Gems can summon multiple weapons as shown by Pearl and Amethyst summoning more than one spear or whip. Just because Ruby tends to use one gauntlet doesn't mean she can't summon more.
