I'm I the only one who dosn't want Stars to happen?
We haven't gotten a fusion in almost a year (other than Topaz), and so people are going through withdrawal. Also, Lars and Steven got honest and open and have been linked through Steven's empathy powers for a while now. That honest intimacy is very similar (thematically) to the burgeoning relationship Steven has with Amethyst that lead to Smoky Quartz. Steven and Amethyst had like four episodes about their feelings, got in an argument/fight, talked about how they really felt, then fused when they needed to beat Jasper. Under a similar formula, Stars could very well end up happening. So on that note, can you at least see how people might think Stars makes sense at this point in time?
Now, whether or not you see Stars as a useful fusion is up for debate, but if you think Stars won't be a good fusion, I will remind you that Fusions are more than just the sum total of their parts. They are a new being, with more to offer than Steven and Lars do individually or even as a co-op team. They become one, stronger being. So I wouldn't count Stars out as being useful just yet (not saying you have).
These are all just why I think people are anticipating/exciting for Stars. Again, I really am interested in hearing why you don't want Stars to happen.
Also its all well and good saying "Fusions are new beings and are greater thn the sums of their parts" but let's be honest here. What exactly does Lars have that can contribute to a new fusion (apart from extra size)? Unless he is going to strangle enemies to death with his earlopes...Now that I think about it, that will be quite fun to watch. Imagne Stars useing shapeshifting to increase the size of his earlopes to make a lasso, or mabye stick Stevens sheil in the holes to make a blougon. Alought I guess that will be too similar to Smokey Quartes yo-yo.
And, again, unless Peridot and Pearl make a ship that can catch up in time, which I think is unlikely (they barely made a drill to go to the center of the earth after weeks and weeks of building, which was destroyed, and Pearl's spaceship skills barely got her out of the atmosphere), Garnet probably won't be there to fuse with Steven. Probably. There's just not enough time for Steven and Lars to be rescued by any Earthlings or the CG. And just because Stars happens, doesn't mean BD won't continue to be a threat. Doesn't mean Steven and Garnet fusion vs BD can't happen in thefuture. But, for right now, Steven has to work with what he's got. So it does make more sense, for what Steven has now, for Stars to happen. If Garnet comes, she'll likely be there with the rest of the CG, so it won't make sense if Steven only fuses with her at that specific point in time. You may think Garnet/Steven fusion needs to be the one to face off BD, but as it stands, it's improbably right now. Stars makes more sense, and because of Lars's nature, he'll more than likely be fighting to run away, rather than fighting to take down a top tier opponent like BD. Besides, I doubt Garnet/Steven fusing would be strong enough to take down a diamond. I'm not even sure Alexandrite could.
Okay. I won't lie. Lars does have some good cooking skills which would be handy if there going to survive (which reminds me, does Homeworld even have anything they can eat?). But I don't see how that will be useful in a fusion (although a shared stomach means they might need less food).
As for he gem destableizer thing. Steven is already immune to it, sure it tcauses some mild discomfort but he is still immune to it so why would he need to be more immume?
