There is a larger question: why do alien inorganic space rocks project humanoid female forms to the degree that even organic reactions to physical and emotional stimuli are simulated? Why simulate the scratches and tears in the image above, or in other instances where we see bruising, blushing, heavy breathing and shaky limbs from exertion, etc?
I know from a story-writing perspective it is to make the gems relatable to the audience, but I hope there is an in-show explanation at some point as well.
My idea is that the inhabitants of Homeworld were originally organic humanoids themselves. In an attempt to prolong their lives they created the Gems and transfered their conciousness's to them. In order to make the transition less jaring the Gems retained as much of an organic experience of life as possible, including the experience of physical and mental stress and pain.

I agree with you oldasdirt because whole physical simulated makes no sense at all because the gem forms are not organic in nature
I've thought of white being the first gem made by organics, then she made the other diamonds, and they collectively made the other gems before battling the organics.
