I loved this episode, the songs, and the new intro.Ā And it seems like Pearl is actually getting better.Ā During her emotional break this episode, she just yells out, drops her sword, and then goes to sit down instead of her scream, wall-punch, warping, fleeing to a floating island, watching Steven miss the edge combo from 'Rose's Scabbard.'Ā Ā I just love this show for its art, sound, characters, emotion, and lore nerd potential.Ā Speaking of which, prepare your britches ^_^
About the knight thing, I like two theories on that one.Ā The one that was already brought up was the Gem Homeworld invading current earth and so Steven Universe takes place at least 6,000 years in the future (seeing how the Kindergarten is at least that old)Ā It's supported by the Florida being an island in the shot of Peridot escaping in 'Jailbreak' and Steven's line about "Ancient Aqua-Mexico" from 'So Many Birthdays'
The other theory is that the Gem Homeworld just keeps invading.Ā I like that one because Greg seems like he actually knows about, has even seen, the Crystal Gems fighting back against Homeworld.Ā At least the way he talks in 'The Return'Ā It makes sense that the CGs wouldn't still be picking up after a war that has been over for 5 eons.Ā There were other people in the 'So Many Birthdays' picture that could be other gems that were killed/corrupted in a later invasion, maybe the one that lost us... Ocean Town *bows head.*Ā Homeworld would have learned about fusions in one of the early invasions and then set up the Cluster experiment in one of the later invasions.Ā Maybe the first war is where Rose earned the Crystal Gems' loyalty and Pearl's love.Ā And then, as the years pass and knights are thought up, Peal learns the sword and tries to actually be a help to Rose.
As for the Jasper being manufactured because she looks like Amethyst, I think maaaaaybe, but only because of their similar spin dashes.Ā Looks are only an illusion for gems and Amethyst only has the long hair because she liked Greg's.Ā Unless Greg is a manufactured gem too, which would be a twist ^_^
TL;DR ^^
Plus that doesn't look like Jasper, no stripes and she's not as buff, the helmet is different from Jasper's crash helmet and Jasper doesn't have an ax.
Well, there was a theory going around that it was Jasper, just not the one that we know. Like, the one Rose is fighting is a "perfect" Jasper. A kindergarten gem that came out exactly perfectly. That's why she looks similar to Jasper. Because Jasper is a kindergarten gem, and like Amethyst, wasn't perfect, but this Jasper is.
There's a reason my friends call me Madame Webster ^_^

I think that is Sardonyx. Maybe Steven recovered her gemstones, healed them, revealing Onyx and Carnelian, they get happy to see each other then fuse, and Sardonyx appears.
I really couldn't give a crud now to Sardonyx. The only real time I pay attention to him/her/it is when someone says "Lardonyx" and everyone laughs. I really only watch the series now to see the plot that leads up to the final gem battle. And if the crewniverse comes up with a "peace is the only answer" thing, I will break my TV and never watch CN ever again.
