The Giant Hornbill Monsters appeared in Issue 20 of the comic series. They serve as the issue's main antagonists.
Appearances[]
In their corrupt forms, these gems all appear be giant hornbill birds. They are all different colors: red, orange, and yellow. Their gems all appear to be on their chests.
History[]
After arriving at the Gem Battlefield, Steven, the Gems, and Connie are immediately confronted by three giant bird-like corrupted Gems who were eating the strawberries. They instantly engaged in battle, but the birds were able to use their talons to break free of their weapons. Soon, the orange bird cornered Connie on one of the floating rocks, and so Garnet and Pearl fused into Sardonyx to poof it. At the same time, Amethyst had subdued the yellow bird's beak with her whip, allowing Steven to use his shield to poof it.
The group left without defeating the red bird. When they later returned for a picnic, the bird confronts them, but Connie uses her sword to poof it.
