Jades were common aristocratic Gems, high-ranked enough in the established hierarchy to attend the Era 3 Ball in "Together Alone". They have been seen in at least nine distinct types, some with very distinct color varieties.
After seeing Stevonnie, Garnet, and Opal form, two Jades of different types fused into Lemon Jade and were subsequently poofed by Yellow Diamond. In "Homeworld Bound", Lemon Jade can be seen in a cameo below Yellow Diamond's Throne in the Diamond Throne Room, showing that she is alive and well even after that event.
All types of Jade have been voiced in the show by Aparna Nancherla.
Role[]

- Main article: Caste System
The Jades were high-ranking Gems in Homeworld's hierarchy, being some of the few Gem types to attend the Era 3 ball after some sapphires and the guard (quartzes and rubies). They appear to be the common aristocracy, with a high ranking and a noble aristocratic status, but ranking lower than Sapphires, due to the sapphires rarity, and Garnets, as some Jades were under Pyrope's command.
Their exact role is unknown, although in "Unleash the Light", some Jades live in Pyrope's colony for thousands of years before Era 3 as aristocratic citizens.
Physical Characteristics[]
Jades appear in many different gem types and varieties. Although the different types all have different bodies, facial features, gemstones, etc, a common trait many of them share is a small slightly rounded chest, and, fitting their status in Homeworld’s previous caste system, they often wear floor-length dresses. Most types' height is somewhere around that of Pearl, the dancing types being slightly shorter, while the others are taller. They also largely possess downturned, bridged noses, although a few types lack noses or possess small upturned noses. Currently, the Jades are the only types of gem that all share the same name, even among other types of gem that share a gem group, and so this wiki lists them with short, descriptive prefixes to differentiate them.
Main Jades[]
- Lemon Jade's Right-Cheek Gem - A Gem serving Yellow Diamond who fused with a Jade in Blue Diamond's court. She is of the "Medium" Jade type.
- Lemon Jade's Left-Cheek Gem - A Gem serving Blue Diamond who fused with a Jade in Yellow Diamond's court. She is of the "Tube" Jade type.

They have inverted triangle-shaped gemstones that appear to be visually identical to each-other. They are slightly taller, although noticeably so, than the majority of Jade types.
"Medium" Jades
These chubby cheeked Jades have narrow rounded eyes, and lack a nose. They have their hair in two upward spikes, appearing similar to that of cat ears. They have pointy shoulder pads, plain skirts, and an inverted triangle on the chest. They have been seen with circular and triangular gemstones. Including Lemon Jade's component Jade of this type, two of these Jades have been seen in "Together Alone" and "The Future".
"Tiny" Jades
These chubby cheeked Jades have small, upturned noses and round eyes. They have short, bobbed hair pointed into a large spike in the back. Their outfits have no shoulder pads, and their dresses' shoulders drape slightly over the arms. The lower vertex connects with the tip of a triangle that covers the whole front of the skirt. They have inverted triangle-shaped gemstones. They appear shorter than most Jade types, but still taller than the dancing types.
"Tube" Jades
These Jades have pear-shaped heads and neck-length hair. They have shawls around their necks and chest-area, short gloves, and horizontally striped tube-shaped dress alternating light and dark green with white lines in between. They have round, unfaceted blue-green gemstones. Along with Lemon Jade's component Jade of this type, this Jade has also been seen.
"Fancy" Jades
These oval-headed Jades have a long neck. Their hair is long and straight. They have a long skirt with two cuts. They have rectangle shaped gemstones. These Jades appear noticeably taller than all other types of Jade.
Unleash the Light[]
"Common" Jades
These Jades have pear-shaped heads wear dresses with bell-shaped skirts. They have small shoulder puff sleeves and waistbands. Their clothes appear to be torn and dirtied, and their hair appear messy.
This is the only type of Jade in the series not shown in "Together Alone", they were later introduced in Unleash the Light, and have not appeared in the series proper.

Jade Fusions[]
- Lemon Jade - The cross-fusion of two Jades, one from Blue Diamond's court and the other from Yellow Diamond's court. She was poofed by Yellow Diamond in "Together Alone".
Trivia[]
- Jades in real life are divided based on the distinction in color/quality they can be found as. While the colors don't seem to effect their roles in the show, they appear to noticeably effect their visual appearance.
- Most valuable jades are green or slightly yellowish.
- Other lower colors include blue, purple, lavender, white, grey, orange and red.
- The mechanical appearance of the dancing types of jade seem to have been created as a metaphor for how the Gem Homeworld was prior to the events of "Change Your Mind": uptight, strict and everyone was required to be as precise and perfect as a clock mechanism.
- In the larger ballroom scenes in "Together Alone", many Jades are shown which are physically identical in all regards (gemstone placement included) to Jades shown previously (including Lemon Jade's components), the reason for this is unknown, but it is likely to simply fill crowd space in the scene.
- Jades have the most radically different appearances between gems of the same name, due to their many types all sharing the name "Jade".

Concept Art[]
- Notably, in Tom Herpich's concept art for "Together Alone", one of the Jade sketches (pictured above) is a type of Jade not seen in the finalized episode. Her face and hair resembles Lemon Jade's left-cheek component. She appears to wear a bell-shaped dress with 10 rectangular gear teeth pointing out from it, as well as a shawl around her upper body, it appears as if she could be wearing gloves, but the details cannot be seen. Her gemstone is located on her forehead.
- In the same concept sketch, the "Wheel" Jades are drawn with visible ears, in the final version of the episode these are removed, seemingly intentionally.
- An individual "Star" Jade with her gemstone located on her bun (pictured above) also didn't make it into the final episode, but her type as a whole did.
- Another sketch shows the "Cog" Jades color-coded in yellow and green, despite that type of Jade not appearing in those colors, but this was more likely done to track their dance movements than to denote actual variants within the type.
