The Maheswaran Residence is the home of Dr. Maheswaran, Mr. Maheswaran, and their daughter, Connie Maheswaran. It made its first appearance in "Mirror Gem", with "Winter Forecast" and "Marble Madness" being the next episodes to feature any part of the house.
Description[]
The Maheswaran's house is a terraced house that shares a street with other, linked homes. It is a two-story house which also contains a garage. The interior is immaculate, clean and includes a couch and portraits. One such portrait shows Connie with her mother and father. The main room also links to the upstairs. It has a window right at the front door, as well as a balcony.
Known Rooms[]
- Living Room: The front-door leads directly into the living room. It includes two pull-out couches, amongst other furniture.
- Kitchen: A room containing a telephone that Connie has used to call Steven. Based on the room's appearance, this appears to be the kitchen. There is a pencil holder on a counter with drawers, along with a calendar on the wall right next to the telephone. There is a windowed door at the back end of the room, which presumably leads outside.
- Connie's Room: An upstairs room where Connie stores her items and sleeps.
- Mr. and Dr. Maheswaran's Room: The room where Mr. and Dr. Maheswaran sleep and store their items.
- Garage: The part of the house where the family's cars are stored.
History[]
"Mirror Gem"[]
Connie's house is first seen from the kitchen, when Steven talks to Connie on the phone. She informs him that they can now hang out more often, since school is out for summer vacation.
"Winter Forecast"[]
In one possible future in, Greg walks the children home to Connie's through a blizzard when his van gets stuck. The Maheswarans, irked at his irresponsible behavior, reluctantly let him and Steven stay the night. When the events actually play out, in the same episode, Greg manages to drive Connie home before the snow and her parents are very welcoming. Greg and Steven are invited to stay the night to avoid driving home during the raging blizzard. They sleep on the living room couches, and Connie comes downstairs in the night to watch the snow fall through the window with Steven.
"Marble Madness"[]
The Maheswaran residence is seen briefly again when Connie talks to Steven on the phone and introduces him to her favorite book series, The Spirit Morph Saga.
"The Return"[]
A brief shot of the empty house is seen when Steven calls Connie about the Gem Warship.
"Nightmare Hospital"[]
Lion carries Steven and Connie to the Maheswaran Residence. Steven asks if Connie will be ready for her sword fighting training at the same time next week. Connie agrees, and laments over how she can't practice at home. Steven retrieves his mother's sword from Lion's mane and offers it to Connie. While she opens the door to her house, Connie tries to decline his offer. As they walk inside, Steven counters her statement by saying that the sword's importance is the reason she should "have-eth" it, and that she could have all week to practice with it. They both laugh at their pseudo-Medieval "-eth" lisps, and Connie accepts the sword. Connie suddenly hears the garage door open and realizes that her mother is home. She exclaims that she needs to hide the sword from her mother or she will end up taking it away. Dr. Maheswaran enters the living room, where she finds Connie practicing the violin with a nervous Steven by her side on the couch. The scene view changes, and we see that Connie and Steven have disguised the sword as a coat rack by the door. Dr. Mehaswaran quickly notices it and asks "When did we get a coat rack?"
"The New Crystal Gems"[]
Connie is briefly shown in her living room on the phone with Steven in her flashback, talking to him about wanting to go with him to rescue his dad. She promptly accepts the responsibility of protecting Beach City while Steven's gone, after Steven tells her that they were leaving immediately and that she wouldn't be able to get there in time.
"Jungle Moon"[]
The Maheswaran Residence is shown in Stevonnie's dream. They imagine themselves materializing up through the living room carpet. They are very small, about the size of a hamster. Dr. Maheswaran then appears, speaking on her cell phone. She is her regular height, thus looking like a giant to Stevonnie. Stevonnie tries to get Dr. Maheswaran's attention by calling to her, then clambering over the furniture and across the window sill to land on her shoulder. Dr. Maheswaran, symbollically representing Yellow Diamond, tries to ignore Stevonnie (representing Pink Diamond) and continue her telephone call to an unnamed Nephrite. Unable to tune them out any longer, Dr. Maheswaran then picks up Stevonnie and sets them back on the floor saying "Honey, please. Give me a moment."
"Little Homeschool"[]
As Steven tells Cherry Quartz in the part of Era 3 that Connie has made a head start on college prep.
