This is so whenever we want to make a general Wiki change that needs other admin's approval, or if a user wants to make a request of an admin, they can post it here instead of on an admins message wall. As a result, all the admins can look on this board and see generally what is going on on the wiki.
Add it to your message wall greeting?
Hopefully this board can be helpful to us in the future :)
I was banned in chat today because "Peridot The Technition" stated that there is no swearin in chat. I explained to him/her my reasoning on it. I stated that there should be the ability to swear in chat because to access the wikia you must be 13 years of age and although I used this argument he/she refuted with "I dont care" and was blatantly ignoring my opinion and reasoning although it was valid and reasonable. All I am asking for is to be unbanned from the chat and to have the swearing rule abolished.
The swearing rule is put into effect because the wiki is meant to be a place that is safe for everyone to view. Not everyone likes to see swears, regardless if they're 13+, so it's kind and courteous to them to just not use vulgar language. Mild swears are allowed on the wiki, but I'm assuming you used a pretty explicit one, which wouldn't be allowed.
The ban you received is only 5 hours, which isn't bad at all. Just patiently wait out your ban and then you can rejoin the chat, but don't swear in the chat or your ban will be reapplied and extended, which is easily avoidable. I know the rule seems dumb to you, but it really keeps the wiki a professional place for all age groups and the staff went over our new chat rules yesterday and we all agreed to keep that rule in so changing it won't happen.
Swearing rules should only apply to the main wiki, not the chat. You have to have an account to access the wikia chat, and to have an account, you have to be 13 years of age. Mild to moderate swears are definitely okay around that age group. Just throwing in my two cents there.

The staff did go over this rules and we decided to allow mild swearing on the chat. Before, no swearing was allowed so at least it's a compromise of sorts. Also, as mentioned, not everyone likes swearing (even some users 13 or older) so allowing users who do swear to use mild swears as well as barring the use of more vulgar ones is better for both groups, or at least it should be because it's meant to be a compromise.

That's not as light of a swear as it could have been, but I'd suggest either of you asking Superluigi about this since he's the one who made the rule so he'd be able to differentiate between what does and doesn't break the rule. I think he'd just tell Infinity to wait out the ban, but you could still ask him about which ones are ok to use for future references.
You were acting really rude in Chat, telling me to stop flooding when I was talking about SU and anime, and your rude remarks shall not be tolerated in the future, if it happens next time, I'd like an apology.
Alright, so yesterday I placed the chatroom rules into effect which allowed for light vulgar language. But by light vulgar language, the word d***he is NOT light vulgar language. But even then, there should have been a warning placed, then a kick, then a ban if needed.
However acting rude toward other users is not allowed, so if you were acting rude toward others then that definitely deserves of a 5 hour chat ban.
I do think that Peridot should have gave a better explaination to you, InfinityToast, for why, however by now the 5 hours is up.
