This article is about the Crystal Gem. You may be looking for the instrumental song or another Peridot.

It's not a shell. There's so much life living here. That's what I'm doing! I'm living here! I've been learning new things about myself all the time! Like how I can make metal do my bidding! The point being, Earth can set you free.

Peridot (specifically Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG) is a member of the Crystal Gems who made her debut in "Warp Tour".

She was originally a Homeworld Gem technician and a certified Kindergartener. After being stranded on Earth following the events of "Jail Break", she acted as a recurring antagonist until becoming more of an anti-hero and pseudo-antagonist by establishing a truce with the Crystal Gems in "When It Rains" to help them save the Earth from the Cluster. She officially became a member in "Message Received" after she defied her Homeworld superior, Yellow Diamond. For some time, Peridot lived in the barn with Lapis Lazuli, but began residing in the Crystal Temple after Lapis fled the planet with their home in "Raising the Barn".

As of the events of Steven Universe: The Movie and onward, she lives with Lapis Lazuli and Bismuth in Little Homeworld.

Appearance

Peridot has lime-green skin and pale chartreuse yellow hair styled into a tetrahedron shape. When she blushes, it is green. Her true eye color is dark green, which is usually tinted by the yellow color of her visor. Her visor works similar to Garnet's, it being a part of her form yet not molded to her body. Her mouth and tongue are bluish-gray, and she has a pointed upper lip. Her gemstone is located on her forehead.

Pre-regeneration (debut)

In all of her appearances up to "Made of Honor" and "Reunited", Peridot wore a sleeveless green V-neck uniform. Her suit is mostly medium green, with a dark-green diamond outline around the cut-out of her neck area, meeting to form the Yellow Diamond insignia at her solar plexus, with a dark-green portion between her chest and leggings. Her leggings cover her feet and feature yellow toes and diamond-shaped knee pads. She is never seen without her visor, which covers the top half of her face and tints her eyes yellow-green. She has a slightly curvy figure, with wide hips, a small waist, and a round chest.

From her first appearance in "Warp Tour", Peridot wore limb enhancers, which have been disposed of as of "Catch and Release" when Amethyst dropped them into the ocean. These artificial extensions are bright green and flare out toward the wrists and ankles, which are colored very dark green. The arm enhancers also feature artificial metallic fingers which are not directly attached but instead levitate around where the palms would be. The leg enhancers used to serve to enhance her height; without them, she is only about as tall as Ruby and Sapphire and slightly taller than Steven.

Post-regeneration (current)

In Dreams 202

Peridot without her visor.

After her regeneration shortly before "Change Your Mind", Peridot's bodysuit now covers her entire chest and is dark green at the top with a pale chartreuse yellow star on the front, and her leggings are bright green with a dark green star on each knee. The area between her chest and leggings, while still dark green, is even darker than before. She also now wears pale chartreuse yellow boots.

Her visor is bigger and is now transparent yellow, butterfly-shaped, and exposes her forehead. It also tints her eyes as a brown-gold color as opposed to green with her previous visor.

As shown in "In Dreams", Peridot's visor is removable.

Other Outfits

In "Reunited", Peridot wore a yellow dress and pink shoes during Sapphire and Ruby's wedding. The dress and shoes were physical as opposed to holographically generated and she wore them over her standard outfit.

In "The Future", Steven had given her a salmon-pink t-shirt with a yellow star in the center, similar to the old one he wore two years earlier, as a parting gift.

Personality

The Return 233

Peridot's cold and calculated behavior.

Initially, Peridot appeared to be calculating, ruthless, and loyal, as shown in her readiness to kill Steven and the other Crystal Gems in "The Return" when asked to by a higher authority. She takes her work seriously, crushing one of her Flask Robonoids underfoot when it was damaged and useless to her during "Warp Tour". Examples of Peridot's loyalty are shown during the events of "Jail Break". Although she disagrees with how Jasper is running their mission and is shown to be annoyed, she still takes orders and goes along with what Jasper has in mind. Another example of her loyalty is shown when she was driven to complete her mission and return to Homeworld despite no contact from Yellow Diamond and has been shown to cling to Steven when she is scared.

After "Jail Break", Peridot became increasingly frantic in her attempts to contact Homeworld, knowing that the Crystal Gems' continuous interference with her mission would leave her stuck on Earth when the Cluster emerges and destroys the planet. Her behavior is shown to be more erratic, in "Keeping It Together", for example, when flying away with her helicopter fingers, she smiles down and laughs hysterically, and her facial expressions are exaggerated throughout the episode. In "Cry for Help", she interrupts all television signals with her own broadcast from the Communication Hub begging Yellow Diamond to rescue her. She even resorts to kidnapping Steven so he can try to repair the Homeworld Warp with his healing spit during "Catch and Release". When Steven is unable to solve her problem, Peridot becomes hysterical and breaks down with the realization that she is stuck on Earth with the Cluster. After reforming into her natural self with no limb enhancers, she becomes very juvenile and paranoid, assuming that harmless household items are "weapons" and that hostility drives every action from the Crystal Gems. However, once comforted by Steven, she becomes much more relaxed and cooperative, although she still refuses to cooperate with the Gems and sequesters herself in Steven's bathroom.

Because Homeworld is a caste society, Peridot viewed the Crystal Gems as some being more superior than others, which often led to her unintentionally offending them for a long time. In "Back to the Barn", she acted very condescendingly towards Pearl due to her position in Homeworld's caste system as a made-to-order servant and refused to acknowledge Pearl's skill as a technician for this reason. After a competition between self-built robots, however, she concedes that she may have been wrong. In "Too Far", She shows a strong aversion to fusion, referring to Garnet as a "permafusion". In "Catch and Release" she refers to Garnet as a "filthy war machine" due to the Homeworld belief that fusion should only be used for combat. She has also stated that Garnet makes her "incredibly uncomfortable." She does try to appeal to Amethyst's favor, as she sees Amethyst as the closest thing to a "normal" Gem, by getting her to laugh despite Peridot being incredibly socially oblivious and unfamiliar with the concept of humor. Peridot has a difficult time apologizing for her behavior but is willing to. It is shown in "It Could've Been Great" that while she likes to follow the rules she gets slightly excited when she breaks them (e.g. sitting in an elite Gem's seat). During her time with Steven and the Crystal Gems, she begins to realize that Homeworld's philosophy is very flawed, and she defects as a member of the Crystal Gems. She admits to having some lingering feelings over Homeworld in "Gem Drill". She reveals that while she had made peace with her decision to defect, it was tough to give up the old emotions of her past life.

Peridot repeatedly shows arrogance and self-aggrandizing behavior. It is likely that her inflated ego, slight condescending attitude, and bragging (ex: calling herself the new leader of the Crystal Gems) is a way of compensating for her own insecurities. As shown in "Too Short to Ride", she suffers confidence issues due to seemingly having no Gem powers of her own since Homeworld has lacked in resources to give powers to her kind upon creation. However, this quickly changes when it is discovered that she has latent ferrokinetic powers with which she made the most out of her time at Funland with Steven and Amethyst. In "Earthlings" Peridot overestimated her ferrokinesis and bragged to Jasper about it. In "Back to the Kindergarten" she was finally convinced to leave the bathroom when Amethyst mentioned she could make her and Steven feel dumb with how much Peridot knew. In "Made of Honor", Peridot treats Bismuth's arrival as less important than her being the only one to keep her drink up. Out of all of this egocentric and arrogant behavior, the most extreme example was by far during "Reunited". When Blue Diamond attacked, despite Peridot's lack of real damage, she demanded Blue Diamond to fight her and then congratulated herself for her trajectory when Bismuth threw her. However, this behavior is not without consequence. When Yellow joined Blue in the attack, Peridot without hesitation went to taunt her, not fearing the by far more dangerous Gem. This leads to Yellow immediately poofing her.

If there's one thing Peridots are good at, it's fixing things!

—"The New Crystal Gems"

Peridot formerly prioritized logic, reason, and objectivity above emotions. While she was not apathetic, she tended to fall back on her intellect which is much more developed than her interpersonal skills. She is great at problem-solving as she uses her observations and experiments to make a conclusion, though these are often eccentric. Peridot used to feel that a practical and systematic approach is the correct way to do things and has had trouble reconciling this with the Crystal Gems, who make decisions based on their feelings, particularly when they chose to relax despite the imminent danger in "It Could've Been Great". Her reason-based decision-making led her to take a different approach to the other Gems in saving the Earth. She contacted Yellow Diamond, whom the other Gems considered evil because she believed the Gems would inevitably mess up in their plan, and tried to persuade her to save the Earth by suggesting alternative non-lethal means of using Earth's resources. When a cause is important to her, Peridot is just as passionate as the rest of the Crystal Gems. Ultimately her determination to spare Earth's life led to her betrayal of Homeworld.

Hailing from Homeworld, Peridot was very naive when it came to Earth and often offended the Crystal Gems while spending time with them. As seen in "Marble Madness", she approaches interaction with organic life with Homeworld's ideology, since when she interacts with Steven, she tries to crush him with a mechanical fist after he outlives his usefulness, believing organic life to be a lower life form. She does not quite comprehend Earth's figurative speech patterns, which often leads her to misinterpret expressions, metaphors, sarcasm, and humor. She was unaware of the existence of rain or thunderstorms and believed that Steven was a member of a species called "Stevens" because that is what he called himself. Curiously, she is familiar with the scent of citrus fruit despite her general ignorance of Earth. Despite her overall unawareness of Earth, Peridot has said that she finds its organic life fascinating and is willing to defend the planet from the Cluster. Since then, she has accepted Earth as her new home. In "Earthlings", she expresses her love for the Earth by trying to explain how living on Earth can "free you", indicating that she loves how the Earth has allowed her to discover her own personality, not what Homeworld tells her she is. In "Room for Ruby", she agreed initially to teach "Navy" about the traditions of Earth when she was living in the barn.

Peridot has been shown to be incredibly stubborn. As shown when the Crystal Gems destroy her equipment, she gets frustrated when she does not get her way and quickly loses her temper. It takes several attempts by the Crystal Gems for Peridot to even discuss the Cluster. Often when working, Peridot insisted things be done her way and despised compromising. She continued to keep her log, despite the task being a moot point, more or less for a sense of normalcy. She also is vocal and honest about her viewpoints and used to bluntly state what was on her mind regardless of the audience. However, Peridot does take responsibility for what she says and has learned how to keep some of her more offensive opinions to herself. As time went on, her behavior around the Crystal Gems has shown that she has opened herself up to new ideas and beliefs. She is rather bad at lying and will tell the truth when pressed, as seen when she tried to lie about the Diamond Communicator and why she hated shapeshifting but told the truth when asked again.

Explanation

Peridot's more erratic behavior.

Peridot is incredibly dedicated and somewhat possessive, occasionally to the point of obsession. She used to be emotionally attached to her mechanical foot, as it was the only remaining part of her limb enhancers. In "Message Received", after managing to contact Yellow Diamond and pleading for the Earth to be spared, she realized her perspective of her leader has changed, and she saw her as the cruel and callous tyrant she is, despite being obsessed with her formerly. Peridot has shown an obsession with objects and entertainment, all of Camp Pining Hearts and has a love for things with alien symbols such as boxer-shorts, and stuffed animals. Her wants can be seen as quite childish at times, as Mr. Smiley actually thought she was a kid.

Peridot used to be extremely self-absorbed, which lead her to underestimate the Crystal Gems continually. Even after defecting to aid the Crystal Gems, she still mainly thought of her needs. Many of her childlike behaviors, particularly her temper and arrogance, stemmed from her over-inflated ego. This is not to say Peridot is incapable of putting others above herself; she is just not used to having others who are willing to do the same for her. As she spends more time on Earth, Peridot has started developing a more gracious and compassionate attitude. This was mainly seen through trying to be friends with Lapis Lazuli and the Crystal Gems. The same behavior extends to her admitting something personal. "Beta" shows a much more considerate and thoughtful side to her. She shows Steven and Amethyst around the renovated barn, entertains them with her "meep morps" and powers and tries to convince Amethyst that she is better than Jasper by showing her the Beta Kindergarten. She also shows her dedication to her friends by telling Jasper she is a Crystal Gem and trying to use her metal powers to help fight. When Lapis was sad about how she took the time to learn about Earth when "Navy" was able to understand for the first time, Peridot comforts her.

Steven Universe: The Movie shows that Peridot is far less self-absorbed and much more open and cooperative as she works with Bismuth and Lapis to build Little Homeschool, and analyses Spinel's injector though she is still eccentric and goofy when she helps try to get the gems' memories back. Steven Universe Future shows that she has turned to gardening and teaching about farming and growing plants in Little Homeschool.

Abilities

Peridot possesses most standard Gem abilities. However, it is revealed in "Too Short to Ride" that Peridot was created on Homeworld during Era 2 when the planet's resources had diminished greatly due to millennia of gem manufacturing. Due to the lack of resources, Peridots made on Homeworld appear to lack certain powers, which is why they are equipped with technological enhancements. For instance, Peridot claims in "Too Short to Ride" that she cannot shapeshift at all.

Skills

  • Intelligence: In "Kindergarten Kid", Peridot describes herself as smarter than the average Peridot. Additionally, she was able to instantly memorize the musical scale of a ukulele after hearing Steven in "It Could've Been Great", demonstrating perfect (or at least exceptional relative) pitch.
    • Architecture: Being a "certified Kindergartner", Peridot has extensive knowledge regarding the location, mineral, and injectors used to create Gems and the state of such Gem by how they appear as themselves and the hole they had come out of. She was sent to Earth in order to check the Cluster's progress in it gained physical form. In "Message Received", she has ideas about how to take advantage of Earth's unique resources without destroying the organic life. In "Beta" as Peridot educates Steven and Amethyst of the intricacies of the Prime and Beta Kindergartens and why their overall quality is far apart from each other. As a result, Peridot knows what would be needed to create the perfect Gem.
    • Engineering: Peridot is able to easily improvise new creations out of existing technology, such as her battle robot in "Back to the Barn", her improvised cannon in "Kindergarten Kid", a Gem drill to reach the core of the Earth with Pearl's help, and some of her artistic "meep morps" shown in "Beta". Peridot has some construction skills, as she managed to rebuild the Communication Hub to a usable state and was seen trying to fix a Warp Pad. In "Change Your Mind", it was shown that she, along with Bismuth and probably Lapis, was able to repair Blue and Yellow Diamond's ships to a fully functional state. Despite rivaling Pearl in engineering skill, Peridot has a far superior knowledge and utilization about Gem-tech than Pearl due to the latter's lack of knowledge on current Gem technology for thousands of years. She also is knowledgeable of old Gem tech, as she was able to find the Cluster's coordinate files on the Moon Base.
    • Horticulture/Agriculture: Peridot learned about Earth's plant life and decided to use her skills from Kindergarten management to cultivate vegetables at the farm. In Steven Universe Future, Peridot is shown running a greenhouse in Little Homeschool and teaching other gems about gardening.
  • Piloting: Along with Pearl, "Doc", and "Navy", Peridot is able to fly Homeworld ships. She is seen briefly interfacing with her ship's controls, setting a course to the Gem Homeworld.

Natural Abilities

  • Immense Durability: By her own admission in "Kindergarten Kid", Peridots are rather durable and can evidently take much harm unscathed. In "Keeping It Together" she can easily shrug off having a heavy piece of Kindergarten machinery crashing down on her without "poofing". In "Kindergarten Kid" she endures multiple crashes and falls in one day, with her physical form remaining intact.
  • Bubbling: As revealed in "Kindergarten Kid", Peridot is able to bubble objects. Her bubbles are lime green and are sent to The Barn instead of being sent to the Burning Room inside the Temple because the Barn is where Peridot considers home.
  • Photokinesis: In "It Could've Been Great" Peridot is shown using her gemstone to project a green light, like a flashlight. She shares this ability with Garnet, Pearl, "Eyeball", "Doc", and the Rutile Twins.
  • Enhanced Strength: Even with her limb enhancers, Peridot possesses very little physical strength and has difficulty just lifting Steven and pieces of a warp pad normally. In "When It Rains", she failed to remove a panel from a Prime Kindergarten Control Room wall, which Steven removed with relative ease but this may have been because of his gem strength, or possibly just for comedic effect. However, in "Reunited" Peridot is able to knock over Mr. Fryman with a couple of flowers alone, suggesting some degree of considerable strength when compared to a human.

Unique Abilities

  • Ferrokinesis: Peridot
    Too Short to Ride (1)

    Peridot manipulating metal.

believed that she had no unique powers until in "Too Short to Ride", it is shown that Peridot can levitate and control metallic objects. The extent of her powers (whether she manipulates magnetism or just the metal) is still unknown, though given as she was able to use the ability on her tablet without damaging the device's circuitry, magnetism appears unlikely. It is possible this ability is what made her so proficient with her limb enhancement's fingers, particularly the 'finger copter' ability. It can require some physical and mental strain on Peridot's part depending on the weight of the object(s), but once lifted off of the ground, her ferrokinesis makes it effectively weightless. In "Beta" she can hold up an entire one-man band of metal instruments (though drops them after concentrating on playing the harmonica). In "Room for Ruby", Peridot is seen casually using this power to raise an umbrella over her and Lapis' head, and raise a trash can lid up to Lapis while she, Steven, and Pumpkin are standing on it, showing she has mostly mastered this ability. In "Earthlings", once properly motivated, she proves capable of using this to throw a piece of scrap metal with enough force to impale the now corrupted Jasper through the chest, poofing her. In "The New Crystal Gems", she is shown to have more control over this ability, being able to lift up trucks and other cars. In the same episode, when Peridot and Lapis were fighting over a car, she was not overcome by Lapis' hydrokinesis. In "Steven Universe: The Movie", she was able to hold back an entire wall of scaffolding. The exact maximum she can lift with this ability is unknown, but she is capable of lifting several tons with little effort. Peridot often uses this ability to grant her and others the ability to essentially fly, such as controlling a trash can lid for her to ride on while Connie hung onto it, or lifting Bismuth into the air and tagging along by controlling Bismuth's metal armor.

Save the Light

  • Metal Powers: Peridot hurls her tablet at an enemy.
  • Landmine: Peridot builds a landmine that explodes when an enemy steps on it.
  • Robotic Pulse Generator: Peridot builds an "RPG" which lowers the defense of all nearby enemies.
  • Pericannon: Peridot builds a cannon that constantly shoots at any enemy nearby.

Additional Tools

Currently

  • Earth Tablet: A gift from Steven (who received it from Greg), Peridot uses it to explore the media and express her feelings shown by "Too Short to Ride", she also said it is something to love, for she no longer has advanced gem technology. Peridot shown to be able to use Earth technology as she was able to use a tablet with little guidance from Steven, possibly because the interface is similar to her limb enhancer's holographs.
  • Attack Drones: Built sometime before "Gem Harvest", Peridot created attack drones to defend the barn in case of invasion. Each is a spherical turret, moving a propeller and controlled by remote. Their design is similar to Peridot's Flask Robonoid; whether these are new drones made from their design or simply modified robonoids is unknown.
  • Trash Can Lid: Since the unspecified point of time, during "Change Your Mind", Peridot, combining her ferrokinesis ability, can stand on a trash can lid to fly around as transportation, as well as giving others a lift using the handle on the bottom.
  • Robonoids: When she served Homeworld, Peridot could control different types of spherical robots known as Robonoids. There are four types of known Robonoids: Flask, Plug, Hand, and Visor. They can perform multiple functions, such as fixing a Warp Pad and activating Kindergartens. As of Steven Universe: The Movie, she seemingly has them back, sporting a new design with her visor on them, they are also seemingly used for more analytical purposes, and scanning with the holes of the Diamond shape.

Formerly

  • Limb Enhancers: Mechanical body extensions Peridot had worn since her debut until the Crystal Gems capture her in "Catch and Release". She is very skilled with advanced Gem technology and is surprisingly dexterous, able to avoid most attacks during her confrontation with the Gems in "Friend Ship" by using her finger attachments as an alternative to walking. However, Peridot has little to no skills in hand-to-hand combat and is thus totally reliant on her limb enhancers for offensive capabilities. In "Catch and Release", her only tactic was that she kept slapping Steven only after realizing it hurt him. She originally tended to assume that unfamiliar objects (such as those in Steven's bathroom) are weapons, as seen in "Catch and Release".
    818e31f1a6d65c506681ef079cb28880

Peridot detaching the "foot" of a limb enhancer.

    • Anatomical Separation: Peridot could separate sections of her limb enhancers by touching a lime-colored button at the zone she wants to remove.
      Friend Ship Peridot 03

      Peridot's blaster.

    • Holographic Interface: Peridot could project a holographic touchscreen from the fingers of her right hand, in which she could control and connect to different forms of Gem technology, as well as use to search for specific data, and record logs.
      Peridot Levitation

      Peridot's tractor beam.

    • Tractor Beam: Peridot could produce a light-green tractor beam from her left hand to move objects/people.
      Peri - Finger

      Peridot's concentrated blaster.

    • Blaster: Peridot could transform the fingers on her right arm into a blaster that could charge and fire an electrified energy ball that would explode on impact. Charging it for a second produces a shot powerful enough to blast through the ceiling of the Ancient Gem Colony Ship. Charging it for several seconds produces a large shot that can knock down a thick stone pillar, and has enough recoil to knock Peridot onto her back. Peridot appeared to have been unaware of this feature, expressing clear surprise upon her first using it.
      • Rapid Fire: Peridot is able to fire a large number of energy balls in rapid succession.
    • Helicopter Fingers: Peridot could expand the fingers of either hand and spin them rapidly enough to fly.
    • Wall-Scaling: Peridot could freely run up vertical walls without falling.
      Peri - 11

      Peridot's helicopter fingers.

  • Gem Destabilizer: In "Jail Break", Peridot wields a Gem Destabilizer, an extremely potent but non-lethal tool used to subdue enemy Gems. As seen used on Garnet, the Gem will start to crack apart at the seams, and poof into their gemstones.
    Peri - 7

    Peridot's wall-scaling.

  • EMP device: In "Warp Tour", Peridot placed a device on the Galaxy Warp Pad before she left Earth. About three seconds after being placed, the device exploded, disabling all of her Robonoids. Peridot pulled this device out of her gemstone, but considering that she has not used or mentioned it since, it is likely to have been merely stored in her gemstone rather than a summoned weapon. The device seems to be highly advanced, as Pearl's pulse bomb in "Political Power" (which appears to be made from human technology) was unable to disable even a single Robonoid, though it did succeed in knocking out the power in Beach City.
  • Peribot: A robot that Peridot created focuses on brute strength. It has enough destructive strength to crush boulders of equal and greater size, and its short stature is used as leverage to support its arms. Despite its appearance, the robot's top running speed is enough to keep pace with Pearlbot. In case of an emergency, the tubing of the arms can serve as an escape tunnel. It suffered severe damage in "Message Received".

Relationships

Crystal Gems

Peridot: But it's fine! I have something different now.
Steven: What's that?
Peridot: You know! You...guys.

—Peridot and Steven, "Gem Drill"
Message Received 365

Peridot's "initiation" into the Crystal Gems.

At first, the Crystal Gems did not know who Peridot was, but they all (except for Steven) seemed to be afraid of her (as shown when they hide from her in "Warp Tour" and "Marble Madness"), though it might have been due to the fact that none of them knew what she was capable of. Likewise, Peridot was not aware that any Gems remained on Earth, much less the Gems that rebelled against Homeworld, as she was quite shocked to find them still alive. In "The Message", Lapis Lazuli told the Crystal Gems that a Gem with advanced technology (whom Pearl correctly assumed to be Peridot) would be bringing an army to Earth and that they should surrender as it would be much easier. In "Joy Ride", Garnet does seem to have a bitter resentment after the events of "Jail Break", as she and the other Crystal Gems relentlessly attacked and beat her escape pod when they thought she was inside. In "Keeping It Together", she feared them and called them "Crystal Clods", running from them in shock, and only fought back when tied up. In "Friend Ship", she mocked the Crystal Gems, thinking she was superior to them. She led them into her traps and tricked them into believing that she was there. This eventually led to her escaping with one less foot. After the events of "Catch and Release", Peridot took up residence in their bathroom. After an encounter with fusion monsters, she begrudgingly became willing to cooperate with the Crystal Gems.

In "Too Far", she reveals that she finds everything about the Crystal Gems as backward and defective, from Garnet's harmonious fusion (which makes her uncomfortable) to Amethyst's status as a Gem. Peridot admits she finds it very confusing but she reveals she also sees herself as defective because of her failed mission and traitor status. Though she states she does not fully comprehend the Crystal Gems' ways, she wants to understand. Peridot eventually begins to understand the Gems' reasons for protecting the Earth and begins to get along with the rest of the Gems. When Peridot eventually manages to make contact with Yellow Diamond, she leaves out the Crystal Gems' interference and afterward attempts to convince Yellow Diamond about the value of Earth. When that fails, she openly refuses to follow Homeworld's orders, an action that Steven exclaimed to make her a Crystal Gem "whether she liked it or not", to which Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl openly agree to. Before Peridot's official induction as a Crystal Gem, she was shown to get along with the members as seen in "It Could've Been Great" and "Log Date 7 15 2" with or without Steven. Peridot's desire to learn helped her build a connection with the rest of the group. "Hit the Diamond" and "Earthlings" show that she has accepted her position as a Crystal Gem. In the former, she tells the Ruby fusion that she is the new leader of the Crystal Gems, and in the latter, she tells Jasper she is a Crystal Gem.

Steven Universe

Peridot: Do you have any last words?!
Steven: I love you, Peridot.
Peridot: Wow, thanks.

—Peridot and Steven, "Gem Drill"
Catch And Release 172

Peridot initially arguing with Steven.

Peridot was initially dismissive of Steven, viewing him as less than a threat and more of a nuisance, causing her to underestimate him on numerous occasions. When Peridot first saw Steven in "Marble Madness", she assumed there was an infestation of "Stevens" in the Kindergarten. Peridot then asked him if "Stevens" were the dominant species replacing humans before attempting to crush him with a giant fist, only to be stopped by the other Crystal Gems. In "The Return", she continued to show little regard for Steven, who was believed to only be a human, until it was revealed that he was actually Rose Quartz (or so she and Jasper believed). In "Jail Break", Peridot attempted to use her Gem Destabilizer to subdue Steven and was surprised by his apparent immunity to the effects of the device. In "Keeping It Together", she talks to Steven calmly with only a hint of fear (likely due to his connection with the Crystal Gems). However, she runs away shortly when the rest of the Crystal Gems find her.

When It Rains 080

Peridot's first experience with rain.

In "Friend Ship", Steven wished her good morning and having a good weekend, meaning Steven still wants to be friends with her. Peridot does copy Steven's taunt when she escapes, implying his influence on her. However, she feels no problem with attempting to kill him, much like their first encounter in the Kindergarten when she used one of the giant remote-controlled hands to try and crush him. In "Catch and Release", she has no qualms over kidnapping Steven to use his powers for her purposes (repairing the Homeworld Warp), although she is later poofed and bubbled by Garnet. After Steven released her and was empathetic during her initial shock, the two seem to be on good terms with each other. In "When It Rains", during a thunderstorm, Peridot mistakes the noise as the hatching Cluster and is terrified and clings to Steven, but is soon informed of the nature of rain by Steven.

It Could've Been Great 072

Steven hugging Peridot.

After the storm has ended, Peridot is willing to disclose information regarding the Cluster and trusts Steven enough to escort her to the Kindergarten to gather information on the Cluster; however, Steven says that they have to hold hands the whole time because Steven needs to keep an eye on Peridot. Notably, she clings to him several times whenever she is scared and expresses gratitude when Steven explains the "rain business" to her. While at the Kindergarten, Steven protects Peridot from several clustered gems and the Crystal Gems subsequently rescue the two. When the Gems begin to ask Steven why they are there, Peridot takes responsibility for the incident to protect Steven. At this point, similar to Lapis Lazuli, Steven is most likely the closest thing to a friend Peridot has, as she only trusts Steven and is hesitant to trust the other Crystal Gems. She has allowed Steven to hug her on multiple occasions, and in "Gem Drill", she hugs Steven. Peridot does consider Steven a friend as revealed in "Message Received". She was upset that Steven locked her in a truck due to a misunderstanding about her intentions with contacting Homeworld. After hearing Peridot say that she thinks the Cluster should be destroyed and then calling Yellow Diamond a "clod", Steven forgave Peridot and welcomed her as a Crystal Gem.

In "Gem Drill", Peridot has shown that she is comfortable enough around Steven to share her thoughts on Homeworld and her new life on Earth. Peridot was also content with the possibility of dying with Steven, further showing their close bond. She shows a great deal of concern for Steven when he suffers pain and loses consciousness, and she even stops the drill, putting their mission on hold for his well-being. The close bond between Steven and Peridot continues in "Barn Mates" and "Hit the Diamond", where Steven wishes to protect her both emotionally and physically. Later in "Too Short to Ride", Steven, along with Amethyst, cheers up Peridot when she is feeling inferior and attempts to help her gain her confidence. He cheers Peridot on when she discovers her ferrokinetic abilities. Steven also gives Peridot a tablet as a gift in this episode. After not seeing each other for a while in "Beta", Peridot is ecstatic to see Steven again.

Kindergarten Kid 308

Steven teaches Peridot about bubbling.

Steven and Peridot's next biggest interaction takes place during "Kindergarten Kid", where Steven teaches her about Corrupted Gems. The two work together to capture the Tongue Monster, and Peridot not only gains an understanding of Corrupted Gems but her own powers with the help of Steven. During the events of "Gem Harvest", "Room for Ruby" and "Raising the Barn", Steven and Peridot are shown to be very close friends. During "Reunited", Peridot violently threw flowers for the wedding. When she was done she reported to Steven, referring to him as 'Wedding Commander' in a military fashion, implying her respect for him. When Steven decided to try reasoning with Blue Diamond about his identity, Peridot did not seem surprised by this development, meaning she may have learned about it off-screen.

In "In Dreams", Peridot visits Steven enthusiastically to watch a rebooted Camp Pining Hearts with him, and even attempts to make a drama of their own with Steven's powers. But after witnessing that the tape has contained Steven's horrible dreams, she gives him a genuine hug and admits that she doesn't care about the trash reboot anymore and tells him that they don't need any excuse to hang out with each other. This shows that how Peridot deeply cares for Steven's well-being.

In "I Am My Monster", Peridot reveals that she doesn't understand why Steven never gave up on her and that she won't give up on him either.

In "The Future", when Steven tells her that he has decided to move out from Beach City, Peridot becomes hysterical and wails, as she is going to miss Steven immensely and will treasure the T-shirt that Steven gives her as a memento gift. She along with Bismuth and Lapis Lazuli gives Steven one last hug with loads of tears.

Lapis Lazuli

Look, I get it, you know. You're confused, you can never go back to Homeworld. This place doesn't exactly feel like home yet. You're alone, no one can possibly know what that feels like. Oh, wait, I do! We're the same, except, you don't have to be alone.

—Peridot, "Barn Mates"
Same Old World 197

Peridot reunited with Lapis.

They were first seen together in "Jail Break" but they did not interact much, however in "Cry for Help", it is revealed that Lapis is Peridot's informant, implying that they have interacted/conversed with each other off-screen. This seems to be due to the lack of knowledge Peridot has of the Earth and Lapis' knowledge of the Crystal Gems and the planet. The full extent of their relationship is unknown, although Lapis appears to have been afraid of her, as she desperately warned Steven not to put up a fight when she arrived. As with Jasper, Peridot does not seem to have any qualms with abandoning Lapis to whatever fate is in store for her on Earth (although Peridot may not have known that Lapis is still on Earth). Writer Joe Johnston has stated that Peridot had acted as Lapis' interrogator during her captivity. Once Malachite and the Cluster were defeated, and Lapis returned from her trip with Steven, Peridot acted rather nonchalant around her despite their less than favorable past.

This was confirmed in "Barn Mates", where Peridot is excited to live with Lapis, but Lapis is not due to her involvement in her return to Earth and the previously mentioned interrogation. After Lapis says them living together will not work and flies off, Peridot wants to prove to her that she has changed. Peridot makes a card for her, makes a pool for her, and even gives her most valuable belonging to her (the tape recorder). All of her attempts to make amends failed and Lapis crushes the tape recorder. Frustrated and hurt, Peridot finally tries to talk to her, telling her that she understands how she feels and that she is not alone and wants to make it up to Lapis. Peridot is later chased by a Roaming Eye and is given a chance by Lapis, who, after having a talk with Steven, asks if she is okay, which makes Peridot happy to know that she cares, which, in return, makes Lapis blush. In "Hit the Diamond", Lapis nonchalantly agrees to play baseball against the Rubies to get them to leave, proving that she cares about Peridot's safety. Since then, Lapis has arguably become Peridot's closest friend.

Beta 078

Peridot and Lapis making music.

In "Beta", the two appear to be closer. They seem to have the same interests, like Camp Pining Hearts and making modern art (or "meep morp", as they call it). Peridot seems to be considerate of Lapis' feelings, as she tries not to mention Jasper or anything related to her when around Lapis. In "Back to the Moon" when Amethyst asks if they want to "play prisoner", she clings to Lapis' arm and shoots Amethyst a look as Lapis refuses. In "Gem Harvest", the two appear to be completely comfortable with each other. They even laugh at each other's jokes when nobody else gets them. However, during "The New Crystal Gems", the two are shown to be able to get into arguments easily, due to their immature sides. But once their immaturity is pointed out, Peridot and Lapis are easily able to reconcile and forgive each other due to their close bond. During the events of "Room for Ruby", Peridot and Lapis work with Steven to teach "Navy" about Earth.

"Raising the Barn" reveals that Peridot had been moderating her speech when around Lapis in order to avoid upsetting her. Lapis was upset when she learned this, presumably having believed that Peridot was always honest with her. Lapis wanted and expected Peridot to flee Earth with her, but when Peridot makes clear that she will stay and fight with the Crystal Gems, Lapis leaves without her. Peridot falls into a depression over this, but Steven and Amethyst convince her in "Back to the Kindergarten" that there are things worth doing with her life even if she can't make Lapis come back. In "Can't Go Back" Lapis expresses specific concern over what Peridot would think of her if she came back, showing she still cares for her despite their last interaction. In "Reunited" Peridot is greatly surprised to see Lapis return and runs to her, asking if she's really back in disbelief. The two are on good terms as seen in "Change Your Mind" and Steven Universe: The Movie, hanging out together alongside Bismuth and building Little Homeworld.

Amethyst

Per, I'mma be really real with you for a sec. This whole time we've been here, you've just been focusing on what you can't do. Of course you're not having any fun. You think that all you are is who you could be, but we don't hang out with you because of who you could be. We like you.

—Amethyst, "Too Short to Ride"
Too Far 174

Peridot saving Amethyst.

While originally carrying the same amount of contempt towards her and the other Crystal Gems, it is revealed in "Too Far" that she sees Amethyst as being hierarchically above the other Crystal Gems as a Quartz, being the only "real" Gem. Peridot initially derives a sense of positive reinforcement from Amethyst's being entertained by her many commentaries on Earth and the other Gems but goes too far when she unwittingly offends Amethyst by bluntly pointing out that she is technically a "defective" Gem. Peridot is shown to care about her, as she was really concerned when a run-away drill was about to hit Amethyst, pushing her out of the way. After she saves Amethyst from the malfunctioning drill and apologizes to her (through a tape-recorder), the two seem to be in better standing. In "It Could've Been Great" while referencing a small kindergarten, she remarks that it is "not nearly as impressive" as the kindergarten Amethyst came from, meaning it as a compliment to her. In "Log Date 7 15 2" she says that she finds Amethyst's company entertaining. In "Barn Mates", Peridot is implied to have taken some of her vocabularies from spending time with Amethyst; both gems say "Holy smokes!" in response to the Roaming Eye. Prior to Peridot learning Amethyst's way of speaking, Amethyst likes to give nicknames to Peridot more than anybody else, considering their close bond. It appears that Peridot has learned from these nicknames, and gave some in return during "Beta" (Ams, Big A, etc.).

Too Short to Ride 194

Amethyst being "real" with Peridot.

In "Too Short to Ride", the two with Steven went to Funland. Nearing the end of their short trip to Funland, it seems that Amethyst really cares about Peridot enough to show a different side of her, because when Peridot laments about herself being an Era 2 Peridot that can not shapeshift, Amethyst stands up to do a "real talk" in an effort to tell Peridot they like her for who she is, showing a more serious side of her that is very rarely seen in the show. In "Beta", the two hung out some more. Peridot seemed to be really happy that Amethyst was visiting, as she held out her arms and yelled "Amethyst!". During the episode, Peridot kept trying to impress Amethyst with 'meep morps'. Despite Jasper being a Quartz, she is shown to prefer Amethyst over her. This is shown when Steven tells her that Amethyst has been comparing herself with Jasper, she gave a confused look. Peridot later tells her she "is way better than Jasper". Near the end of the episode, Peridot comforts her when she gets upset about Jasper. During "Kindergarten Kid", Amethyst congratulates Peridot when she bubbles the Corrupted Gem. Peridot is left depressed following Lapis' departure in "Raising the Barn", and Amethyst is visibly frustrated with this. She decides to take Peridot to the Kindergarten to try to cheer her up, and they decide to raise a garden there. It ultimately fails, upsetting Peridot and causing her to lose hope, but Amethyst and Steven show her that although the Kindergarten is beyond saving, the rest of the world isn't. They are shown casually interacting and working together throughout the episode.

In "Change Your Mind", Peridot is shown gleefully running up to and climbing on top of Amethyst after finding out about the latter's reformation. This shows that the two still appear to be good friends.

Pearl

I have to admit, it's... remarkable that a Pearl such as yourself could become such a... knowledgeable technician.

—Peridot, "Back to the Barn"
Back to the Barn Number (198)

Peridot being punched by Pearl.

Peridot initially held a large amount of disdain towards Pearl, being that Pearls are servants on Homeworld and Peridots are considered higher ranking. Since reforming and willingly living with the Crystal Gems, Peridot has been particularly dismissive of Pearl. The reason for this is because, on Homeworld, Pearls are seen as commodities rather than individuals. Peridot was seen insulting Pearl constantly throughout "Back to the Barn". However, after she and Pearl fought with their robots, Peridot came to realize that there is more to Pearl than she assumed.

Back to the Barn Number (232)

Pearl and Peridot reach an understanding.

By the end of the day, Peridot admitted that she was wrong about Pearl, and is willing to work together with her. It is later revealed in "Log Date 7 15 2" that she appreciates how hard Pearl is trying to make their friendship work. Peridot and Pearl are shown to be friends in later episodes and are willing to collaborate with each other on projects. In "Adventures in Light Distortion", Peridot says she should adjust the gravity engine in the Ruby spaceship before Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, and Steven embark, but the Gems ignore her. Once they figure out why the Gems' forms are being changed by the uncalibrated gravity engine, Pearl denies Peridot saying anything about it and exclaims "this is why we don't listen to her." Pearl's behavior during the episode implies that while she doesn't particularly like her, she still trusts Peridot enough to check out the ship for them. In "The New Crystal Gems", Peridot talked about Pearl disdainfully and had Pumpkin fill the role of Pearl. When compared with Pearl, Peridot immediately denied any similarities with her. This shows Peridot still does harbor some issues with Pearl and does not seem to view her as highly as the other Crystal Gems.

Garnet

I have attempted a fusion with the fusion Garnet. I had hoped to gain a better understanding of fusion. Instead, I got a better understanding of Garnet.

—Peridot and Steven, "Log Date 7 15 2"
Log Date 7 15 2 255

Peridot attempting to fuse with Garnet.

Peridot initially held a large amount of hostility towards Garnet, calling her a "filthy war machine" in "Catch and Release", due to hetero-Gem fusions being taboo on Homeworld. In "Too Far", Peridot expressed that she felt "uncomfortable" with Garnet being fused all of the time, referring to her as a "Perma-fusion" because of it. In "It Could've Been Great", Garnet pats Peridot on the back which startles her. When Peridot angers the others by insulting Rose Quartz, Garnet physically threatens her. Peridot also has stated that she does not understand why Garnet remains fused despite not being in a fight. In an attempt to understand Garnet, in "Log Date 7 15 2" Peridot tries to fuse with her but fails after backing out of the fusion dance due to not being ready. However, after Garnet called herself the pairing of Percy and Pierre from Camp Pining Hearts to describe herself, Peridot is more aware of the reason Garnet is a fusion all of the time.

After the experience, Peridot has had much more respect for Garnet. Garnet's relationship with Peridot improved after Peridot joined the Crystal Gems; Garnet calms her down after she throws away her tape recorder, and Garnet gets Steven to return it to Peridot. In "Hit the Diamond" she reassures Peridot, telling her that she and the other Crystal Gems are sworn to protect any and all who call Earth home, which includes "clods like [her]". During "Kindergarten Kid", Garnet is impressed that Peridot was able to capture the Corrupted Gem, and informs her on what to do after bubbling the Gem. In "The New Crystal Gems", Peridot is shown to admire Garnet's role as the leader of the Crystal Gems

Connie Maheswaran

In "The New Crystal Gems", Peridot meets Connie for the first time. The two get along well as the Crystal Temps despite quirks like Connie's leadership falling more flat compared to Steven which Peridot criticizes. Connie and Peridot demonstrated good chemistry in their roles during the battle against the Diamond Mech in "Change Your Mind".

Bismuth

Bismuth: I like you Peridot, you don’t quit!

—Bismuth, "Reunited"

In "Reunited", Bismuth takes a liking to Peridot's bold attitude towards fighting the Diamonds. Peridot seems to like Bismuth as well as she is seen happily talking about the fight with Blue Diamond with her and Amethyst. In "Legs From Here to Home

Perismuth

Peridot and Bismuth bonding.

world", Bismuth declines to join Steven and the others on their trip to Homeworld, explaining her mistrust of the Diamonds and adding that she needs to keep an eye on the yet-to-reform Peridot and Lapis.

Later on, during the construction of Little Homeworld and Spinel's invasion, Peridot and Bismuth are still shown to be on good terms.

Greg Universe

Peridot seems to recognize Greg as a friend because he is Steven's father. In "Log Date 7 15 2", she expressed curiosity when meeting Greg, unsure of his abilities as organic life, and pushed him off of the barn's roof. He held no grudge against Peridot and the two seem to be on better terms since. In "Gem Harvest", Peridot, along with Lapis, recognize that their home is in jeopardy and allow Greg to stand up for them to Andy DeMayo. In the same episode, Peridot mentions that it is nice to have everyone together. In "The New Crystal Gems", Peridot, Lapis, Connie, and Pumpkin run the car wash for Greg while he and Steven are in space, showing that she has gained some respect for him and his livelihood. After destroying the old car wash sign, she and the others design and build a new one with Greg's likeness, to which he replies he loves it. In "Reunited", she is shown having a conversation with Andy and Greg about her metal powers before the Diamonds arrived.

Yellow Diamond

Peridot: I won't do it! I can tell you with certainty there are things on this planet worth protecting!
Yellow Diamond: What do you know about the Earth!?
Peridot: Apparently more than you, YOU CLOD!

—Peridot and Yellow Diamond, "Message Received"
Message Received 330

Yellow Diamond was Peridot's former superior and leader. In "The Return", when Jasper mentioned the name Yellow Diamond, not only Lapis winced, but Peridot showed fear as well. In "Cry for Help", via the communication hub tower, Peridot sends a distress message to Yellow Diamond pleading for her help. In "Catch and Release" Peridot states that she has not received a response from Yellow Diamond since her distress message in "Cry for Help". Despite this, Peridot seems almost to worship her, for example when she called her "magnificent" in the episode "It Could've Been Great". This may also be the case for the other Diamonds as well, as she called them "flawless beings" in "Message Received", but praises Yellow Diamond the most as she called her "the most perfect, the most reasonable, rational, efficient decider ever to exist in the universe."

Peridot finally manages to contact Yellow Diamond in "Message Received"; she used a Diamond Communicator, which she kept hidden from the Crystal Gems, truly believing that she could convince Yellow Diamond to value and protect Earth. As she begs her to deactivate the Cluster to save the Earth, Peridot sees Yellow Diamond as the exact opposite of all she made her out to be, as Yellow Diamond insists on destroying Earth for her own sake and personal reasons while rejecting Peridot's own for sparing Earth and its ecosystem. She refuses to follow Yellow Diamond's orders and insults her for failing to see Earth's potential, making her a traitor to Homeworld and Yellow Diamond. Peridot is left shaken and exhausted by the stress of defying her; after Peridot hands her Communicator to the Crystal Gems, she curls up into a ball and is unable to help the others when they get rid of the Communicator.

In "Log Date 7 15 2", it is clear that Peridot's betrayal of Yellow Diamond continues to impact her, causing her to break down emotionally to the point where she openly states that she feels she has finally gone mad. Peridot believes that Yellow Diamond has made her "public enemy number one", so she and the Crystal Gems assume that the Rubies in "Hit the Diamond" are after her. In "Reunited", when Yellow Diamond arrives on Earth along with Blue, Peridot seems to have gained her confidence against her, as she eagerly goes up to Yellow Diamond, expecting to relive the moment from "Message Received" when she directly insulted Yellow to her face, asking if she remembers her. However, Yellow simply responds "no" and electrocutes her until she poofs. In "Change Your Mind" they seem on good terms as both of them and the rest of the gems try to convince White Diamond to change her ways.

Blue Diamond

Not much is known about their relationship as she rarely mentions her, but she seems to have a sort of respect for her as seen in "It Could've Been Great", although she may not have the same level of admiration for her as with Yellow Diamond, due to not being a member of her court. As of "Message Received", however, after realizing Yellow Diamond was nothing like the figure she idolized, she no longer admires any member of the Diamond Authority. In "Reunited", Peridot displays arrogance when fighting Blue, despite not doing any notable damage. She yells for Blue Diamond to fight her and is eventually hurled as a projectile at the Diamond. Much like Yellow Diamond, Peridot expresses no fear when facing Blue Diamond. In "Change Your Mind" Peridot and the rest of The Crystal Gems help Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond to convince White Diamond to change her ways.

 Jasper

The Return 248

Peridot, being pushed around by Jasper.

Jasper acts as Peridot's escort during her mission to Earth. Once on Earth, however, Jasper realizes Steven possesses Rose's gemstone and immediately prioritizes returning to Homeworld over Peridot's mission which she dismisses as trivial, leaving Peridot feeling disgruntled. Peridot was comfortable questioning Jasper's decision, which later contrasts with her nervousness when she argues with Yellow Diamond. In "Cry for Help", it is overtly stated that Jasper is her escort.

Peridot states in "Super Watermelon Island" that being on the same ship as Jasper made her tired. The Rubies in "Hit the Diamond" state that Jasper is the leader of the mission, so she had authority over Peridot and Lapis. In "Beta", while trying to cheer up Amethyst, Peridot implied she was superior to Jasper due to having been created in the Prime Kindergarten, while Jasper was created in the Beta Kindergarten. However, her opinion changed when she examined Jasper's exit hole, which she claimed was the most perfect she had ever seen and stated that Jasper was "The Ultimate Quartz". In "Earthlings", Peridot finally meets Jasper for the first time since she betrayed the Gem Homeworld. Peridot announced to Jasper that she had joined the Crystal Gems and attempted to show off her newfound power, but it failed to work and Jasper simply ignored her, seeing her as little of a threat. Peridot also laughed at Jasper when she was getting beaten by Smoky Quartz. Jasper seemed to believe that Steven had taken advantage of Peridot's weakened state, despite her assertion that Earth was full of life and that it changed her. When the Corrupted Jasper tried to attack Amethyst and Steven, Peridot frantically used her powers to drive a metal bar into Jasper, poofing her.

Trivia

Peridot GTTCG Page

Peridot's entry in Guide to the Crystal Gems.

  • On the podcast, according to Rebecca Sugar, a very old concept for Peridot was a cyberbully for Steven whom Steven would meet. She and Ian Jones-Quartey also explained how this somewhat factored into Peridot's character as she was originally someone from far away who was comfortable threatening Steven and the Crystal Gems.
  • In response to the implication (from her earliest appearances) that Peridot is a "main antagonist", Matt Burnett stated, "Pretty quick to judge poor Peridot... I wouldn't call her an antagonist just yet, and def. not the 'main' one".
  • Peridot shares many traits with the titular character of Invader Zim, including short stature, skin tone, an over-zealous nature, and general ignorance of Earth.
  • She seems to like the stereotypical green alien: in "Log Date 7 15 2" she wears shorts with green alien faces on them and in "Too Short to Ride" she wants a plush alien. In "Beta" she has taken to wearing the plush's bow tie while the plush floats in the aquarium.
  • Peridot's wearing the plush's bow tie and her uptight personality concerning impressing guests in "Beta" is similar to Felix Unger from The Odd Couple.
  • In The Steven Universe Podcast, Ian Jones-Quartey and Rebecca Sugar revealed that Peridot's habit of calling people a clod was derived from a joke Ian Jones-Quartey would do, which was calling people a clod in a weird voice for not understanding or believing in a subject matter.[2]
  • Peridot is said to be thousands of years old by Lapis in "The New Crystal Gems".
    • This was confirmed in the Steven Universe artbook, "End Of An Era", where the timeline reveals that Peridot emerged 3,000 years before the events of the series.
  • According to Michaela Dietz, Zach Callison has a theory that if Peridot and Steven fuse their fusion would just be even smaller, and adding Amethyst in would shrink the fusion even further but make them louder; Michaela and McKenzie Atwood agree that the idea would be good for the show as being small would help them infiltrate places.[3]
  • Her "helicopter-fingers" ability was conceived by Raven Molisee.[4]
  • The two times Peridot has been poofed have been for opposite reasons. The first time was by Garnet because she was a Gem loyal to Yellow Diamond threatening both the Crystal Gems and the Earth. The second time was by Yellow Diamond because she was a Crystal Gem protecting Earth.
  • She has an overly technical term for most body parts (e.g. ears are "head holes", hands are "touch stumps", feet are "gravity connectors", etc.). Whether or not this is a common trait among modern Homeworld Gems or a personal quirk is currently unknown.
    • Despite this, she does refer to the rear as simply the butt.
    • These naming conventions are not specific to body parts. She also calls a screwdriver a "leverage optimizer", a hammer a "rhythmatic pulverizer", and a roller coaster a "speed-patterned transportation circuit".
  • According to her Twitter page, it is implied that Peridot learned what snakes, bees, and cars are by being bitten, stung, and hit by them.
  • Also on her Twitter page, when no one else is around, she runs around the barn wearing clothes, plays Camp Pining Hearts really loudly, and plays frisbee with herself.
    • It is revealed in "Too Short to Ride" that Peridot also tends to steal Steven's clothes in secret.
      • This may be referenced by her recieving Steven's shirt as a gift in "The Future".
  • In "Hit the Diamond", Peridot claims that she is the new leader of the Crystal Gems; this can be also found in her Cheep Bio (and official Twitter account).
    • In "The New Crystal Gems", she actually became the leader, but temporarily.
  • As seen on the Keep Beach City Weird blog, Ronaldo believes Peridot to be an eco-terrorist and a highly advanced android programmed to free animals from zoos.
  • After her regeneration in "Catch and Release" Peridot's design shows no change, except her limb enhancers. However, her hair is slightly more frayed at the corners, depending on which animator animated the episode.
  • In Peridot's first appearance in "Warp Tour", Peridot had yellow diamonds on her elbows. These diamonds were no longer shown in later episodes. However, they reappeared on Holo-Peridot in the episode "Friend Ship"
  • In the episode "Change Your Mind", Peridot's appearance and mode of transport bear a similarity to the DC Comics superhero Static, particularly Static's portrayal in the animated series Static Shock.
  • Peridot's new triangle-shaped visors are similar to the ones Kamina from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann wears.
    • Peridot's visor is not an integral part of her body, revealed in "In Dreams" contrary to popular belief. However, unlike Garnet, she reforms with it already attached and simply removes it rather than desummoning, possibly due to her inability to shapeshift.
  • Her new appearance has some features from the main Crystal Gems' appearances.
    • Her new visor resembles Garnet's visor.
    • Her torso resembles Pearl's previous and Steven's outfit.
    • She has stars on her leggings, just like Amethyst.[2]
  • Peridot has an official Twitter account run by Jesse Zuke.[5] The link to her Twitter is here, although it is currently inactive, with the most recent tweet being from May 23, 2017.
  • Confirmed by storyboard artist Maya Petersen, Peridot is the show's asexual and aromantic representation, and her interest in shipping is anthropological only.[6]
    • This was hinted at as early as 2017 in Fusion for Beginners and Experts, where it stated that Peridot did not want to fuse (which can be represented as a romantic relationship, in some cases).
