Rose's Scabbard is an object that made its first appearance in the episode "Rose's Scabbard". It is a sheath made for the blade of Rose's sword and was presumably, as was the sword itself, made by Bismuth.
Appearance[]
The scabbard is pink, with a smooth, pale white edge and tip, and has Rose's symbol in the center. It is presumably made of some type of metal, judging by the sound when Lion grabbed it with his mouth. Like many Gem creations, it has survived millennia with no sign of wear.
History[]
"Rose's Scabbard"[]
Rose used it throughout the Rebellion until it was lost during the battle at the Gem Battlefield over 5,500 years ago. Pearl searched in vain for this memento of Rose's, but it remained lost until Lion found it hidden in soil while the Crystal Gems were looking for weapons in the Strawberry Battlefield. It was given to Steven by Pearl, and it was stored inside Lion's pocket dimension at the end of the episode, along with Rose's sword.
"Nightmare Hospital"[]
Steven gives the sword in its scabbard to Connie for practice, but her mother confiscates both items. She later returns them to Connie and Steven.
"Gem Hunt"[]
Connie carries the sword and scabbard while searching for the Corrupted Gems with Steven. This is the first episode where the scabbard has straps to be worn across the back.
"Mindful Education"[]
Connie brings the sword and scabbard to Pearl's sword fighting lessons. When Connie and Steven fuse into Stevonnie to practice as a fusion, they wear the scabbard on their back during the first lesson.
"The New Crystal Gems"[]
Connie puts the scabbard on her back while talking to Steven over the phone in preparation to join him, and later wears it while taking the role of Steven in the Crystal Temps.
"A Single Pale Rose"[]
In Pearl's memories, the scabbard was in Pearl's possession while she discussed with Rose Quartz their plan to stage Rose shattering Pink Diamond. This suggests the scabbard was lost in the Gem Battlefield after Pearl and Rose had staged Pink Diamond's shattering.
"Reunited"[]
Connie wears the sword in the scabbard on her back after the Diamonds arrive on Earth. She uses the sword to attack Blue Diamond, who, having recognized the weapon as none other than the one that she believes to have shattered Pink, grabs the sword and shatters it. In the next scene neither the sword's handle nor the scabbard are in Connie's possession, and while the broken sword is seen on display in Steven Universe: The Movie, it is unclear where the scabbard is now.
