The "Shooting Star" is an artifact that first appeared in "Monster Buddies". It is seen again in "Winter Forecast" as a tool that the Crystal Gems attempt blow up the Galaxy Warp with.
Appearance
The Shooting Star is a palm-sized, spiky cluster of pink and blue crystals partially encased in a chunk of ice. The Crystal Gems retrieved it from a shallow well.
Abilities
Pearl states that the Shooting Star is so hot that "bare skin cannot endure its intensity"; even Garnet, who can swim in lava and control electricity, is unable to hold the star without her gauntlets. When too much pressure is applied, it causes a powerful explosion, intense enough to destroy the entire Crystal Temple, as seen in one of the possible futures Steven witnessed in the episode "Winter Forecast".

Trivia
- Although Garnet can sustain extreme heat damage, even she can be burned by the Shooting Star.
- Amethyst states, when asked what they did with a Shooting Star, "You shoot it."
- It is later revealed that Amethyst means this literally, as the Crystal Gems used it to destroy the Galaxy Warp in "Winter Forecast" as confirmed by Peridot in "Marble Madness" ("Are you the reason the Homeworld Warp is down -- again?!")
- It is very delicate, as it exploded easily when Pearl's concentration broke and caused it to fall a few feet to the ground.
- It has the potential to blow up the entire Galaxy Warp.
- It is shown that if one of the gems lets its guard down, the Shooting Star can slip out of the gems grip and explode.
