An ancient elemental, so hot, and so volatile, it can only be contained in ice. Bare skin cannot endure its intensity! |

—Pearl, "Monster Buddies" |
The "Shooting Star" is a Gem artifact that first appeared in "Monster Buddies". It is seen again in "Winter Forecast" as a tool that the Crystal Gems attempted to destroy the Galaxy Warp with.
Appearance
The Shooting Star is a palm-sized, spiky cluster of pink and blue crystals partially encased in a chunk of ice-like crystal. The Crystal Gems retrieved it from a shallow well found deep within the Ice Cavern.
Abilities
Pearl states that the Shooting Star is so hot that "bare skin cannot endure its intensity"; even Garnet, who can swim in lava and control electricity, is unable to hold the star without her gauntlets.
When even slight pressure is applied to the Shooting Star, it detonates, causing enough damage to destroy the entire Crystal Temple in an alternate future in "Winter Forecast".

Trivia
- Although Garnet can sustain extreme heat damage, even she can be burned by the Shooting Star.
- Amethyst states, when asked what the use is for a Shooting Star, "You shoot it".
- It has the potential to destroy the entire Galaxy Warp, since it almost did so in "Winter Forecast". This either failed, or happened in an alternate timeline/reality as the Galaxy Warp reappears in the episode "Friend Ship".
- The Shooting Star resembles a crystalline structure (Cuber's spaceship) that appeared in the title card of an Adventure Time episode, "Five Short Graybles".[1]
