Peridot: This is no ordinary injector. Whatever it's leaking into the ground is toxic. Let's get a scan going and see what we're dealing with. Just as I thought. Bio-poison. Pure and uncut. As of this moment, the ampoule has drained 15.4% of its contents, meaning the poison is releasing at a destruction rate of 5 cubic meters per hour, giving us, hmmm... 41 hours until the destruction of all organic life on Earth. |

—Peridot & Steven, Steven Universe: The Movie |
Spinel's Injector was a massive construct designed to inject a toxic biological substance into a planet, which destroys all life it comes in contact with. Spinel brought the injector to Earth to take revenge against Steven Universe and the other Crystal Gems after discovering she had been abandoned by Pink Diamond. In a fit of rage, Spinel forced it further into the ground, causing it to explode, requiring Beach City to be saved by Alexandrite.
Appearance[]
The injector had a black-accented hourglass-shaped body with a pop-out drill and three foldout spider-like legs at its base. There was a large hot pink gemstone-like object with a heart-shaped facet at the top, which resembled Spinel's own gemstone.
Function[]
Instead of draining life from a surrounding area to create new Gems, this injector delivers a type of poison called "Bio-Poison", which kills all organic life, including (but not limited to) plants, animals, insects, and people. According to Peridot, the poison would have been potent enough to destroy all life on Earth in 41 hours (1 day, and 17 hours). The poison appears to paralyze any organic matter when the poison comes into contact with it as seen when Greg Universe came into contact with the poison and got his left arm completely paralyzed. If the machine is disturbed or tampered with its injection rate accelerates. Additionally, excessive damage to the injector can cause it to explode which was its ultimate fate after Spinel's fight with Steven crushed the top of it.
This injector can be freely and easily controlled by Spinel herself through a horn created from her elasticity. It can be activated, deactivated and even sped up through her horn, the final command of which pumps the poison at such a rate that it overflows from the injection site. Doing this, however, causes the poison to not settle properly, and renders it useless.
Trivia[]
- It was confirmed during a book signing that this injector, along with the Gem Rejuvenator, belonged to Pink Diamond prior to her demise.
- It is not known when, why, or how either of the first two weapons was developed, but Spinel apparently had access to them both due to being Pink's best friend. It is never made clear exactly where and how Spinel found these weapons.
- The injector can hold and release up to about 237 cubic meters worth of bio-poison.
- The injector looks similar in appearance to that of a bacteriophage.
