StevensBombin

StevenBomb is the name of several American advertising programs by Cartoon Network which consists of airing new episodes of Steven Universe daily during a regular work week. The first one premiered consecutively in the week of March 9 through the 13th at 5:00 p.m. EDT. The second StevenBomb premiered on June 15 and went through the 19th at 6:00 p.m. EDT. The third StevenBomb premiered on July 13 and ran through the 17th of July at 6:00 p.m. EDT. The fourth StevenBomb aired from January 4 to January 8, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. EDT.

  • StevenBomb 1 marked the beginning of the new airing time for Steven Universe at 10:00 p.m. UTC.
  • Episodes within the airing cycle were moved around to make the StevenBomb 1 plot line flow better. These episodes include stand-alone episodes from season 1 ("Open Book", "Story for Steven" and "Shirt Club") and "Full Disclosure", a season 2 episode.
    • The schedule adjustments also resulted in the 2015 April Fools' Day episode "Say Uncle" airing during Season 2 instead of Season 1.
    • The episode airing order did not need to be adjusted for StevenBomb 2 or StevenBomb 3.[5]
  • The name was derived from the opening scene in "Garnet's Universe", where Steven "Steven bombs" Garnet from the rafters as she returns from a mission.[6]
  • StevenBomb 2 marked the beginning of a new airing time of Steven Universe at 11:00 p.m. UTC.
  • Cartoon Network confirmed the second StevenBomb beforehand via phone call.
  • Like the first StevenBomb, the first episode of StevenBomb 2 aired with an episode involving Pearl's and Rose Quartz's relationship.
    • The third, however, was somewhat involved with Garnet and Pearl's relationship.
    • The fourth involved Ruby and Sapphire's relationship.

        • Interestingly enough, the first episode of StevenBomb 3, that is, the first episode immediately after StevenBomb 2, "Cry for Help", also features a song with the word "do", "Tower of Mistakes", in the lyric "Is there something I can do?" repeated several times.
    • StevenBomb 3's theme was Sardonyx and the conflict revolving her, Garnet and Pearl.
      • In a thread raising concerns about leaked content, writer Matt Burnett foreshadowed this conflict by jokingly describing StevenBomb 3 as revolving around "Pearl hitting rock bottom".[7]
    • StevenBomb 4's theme is Steven's birthday, as well as Peridot's redemption.
    • StevenBomb 5's theme is leaving Earth to save Greg in outer space.
  • In each StevenBomb, at least one Gem sings.
  • StevenBomb 1 is so far the only StevenBomb to have more than 5 episodes.
  • It is revealed in StevenBomb 4 that Steven's 14 years old, and that Connie's age is 12¾.
  • So far each StevenBomb has Garnet without her visor in at least one episode.
    • In "The Return" (StevenBomb 1), Garnet is shown without her visor when hit by the Gem Destabilizer, and "Jail Break" (StevenBomb 1) shows Garnet without her visor shortly after her formation. The hand cluster takes off Garnet's visor in "Keeping it Together" (StevenBomb 2), when Garnet says "That's fusion." in "We Need to Talk" (StevenBomb 2), her red eye winks at Greg. Garnet takes off her visor while she says "I can be brash, you can be reckless. And we can both get carried away." in "Cry for Help" (StevenBomb 3), "The Answer" (StevenBomb 4) has no sight of Garnet wearing her visor, and in "Steven's Birthday" (StevenBomb 4), Garnet removes her shades in an unsuccessful attempt to get baby Steven to stop crying. In "That Will Be All", Garnet isn't wearing her visor when Ruby and Sapphire fuse to stop Holly Blue Agate's attack (she briefly summons them as she says "We'll handle this noise.").
  • There are some characters who appear or are mentioned in every Bomb.
    • Ruby and Sapphire were first introduced and fuse with each other in "Jail Break", in StevenBomb 2, the were constantly being mentioned throughout the episode "Keeping It Together", they almost unfuse in the same episode. In StevenBomb 3, they unfuse in the episode "Keystone Motel" and in StevenBomb 4, Garnet was telling a story about them in "The Answer". In StevenBomb 5, they willingly de-fused as Garnet to act as normal Homewrold Gems in the zoo.
    • Also, each StevenBomb has Peridot in at least one episode. StevenBomb 1: "The Return"/"Jail Break"; StevenBomb 2: "Keeping it Together"; StevenBomb 3: "Cry for Help"/"Friend Ship"; and StevenBomb 4: All except "The Answer"; StevenBomb 5: " "Adventures in Light Distortion".
    • Lapis Lazuli had an appearance in "The Return" and "Jail Break" (Bomb 1), in "Chille Tid" (Bomb 2), mentioned by Peridot in "Cry For Help" (Bomb 3), a silhouette simillar to her was shown in "The Answer" (Bomb 4), and she was at the barn with Peridot when they were preparing the Ruby's ship in "Adventures in Light Distortion" (Bomb 5).
    • Jasper debuted in "The Return" and "Jail Break" (Bomb 1), in "Chille Tid" (Bomb 2), mentioned by Peridot in "Cry For Help" (Bomb 3), was mentioned by Yellow Diamond in "Message Recieved" (Bomb 4), and although not specifically seen or mentioned in the fifth StevenBomb, there were multiple Jaspers seen in "That Will Be All".
    • Rose Quartz appeared as a hologram in "Rose's Scabbard" (Bomb 1), in a holo-flashback in "Sworn to the Sword" and in person during "We Need to Talk" (Bomb 2), she was also mentioned by Jamie (Who was portraying Pearl in a play) in "Historical Friction" and by Garnet in "Friend Ship" (Bomb 3) and was seen in "The Answer" (Bomb 4). She is mentioned in "Steven's Dream" (Bomb 5) when Steven asked Greg about if she had revealed her past to him.
    • Connie was in "Full Disclosure" (Bomb 1), in "Sworn to the Sword" and "We Need to Talk" (Bomb 2), was mentioned by Steven in "Cry for Help" (Bomb 3) and appeared in "Steven's Birthday" (Bomb 4). She appears in "Steven's Dream" (Bomb 5) when Steven told her his dream and her pointing it out in Buddy's journal.
    • Greg was in "The Return" and "Full Disclosure" (Bomb 1), "We Need to Talk" (Bomb 2), "Keystone Motel" (Bomb 3) and "Steven's Birthday" (Bomb 4). The entire premise for StevenBomb 5 was about trying to rescue Greg from Homeworld Gems.
