I agree. while I do like the fact that it starts off a good arc, I hate the fact that the townspeople are scapegoating Mayor Dewey, even though this was a circumstance outside of his control. And previously the townspeople had no problem with stuff like the ocean disappearing (I mean the only thing they were mad about was how it’d affect tourism) but here it feels a little hypocritical.

Not once does Steven take responsibility for this, nor do the CG, and they don’t have really any impact on this episode besides being a bit more protective of Steven. Even if Steven did something like apologize on behalf of mayor Dewey, I still think they could’ve gotten rid of his character, like maybe he realizes the pressures of being mayor and steps down or he does realize he’s being a terrible mayor.
