"The Appalachian" is a ride in Beach City Funland that is first seen in "Bubble Buddies".
History[]
"Bubble Buddies"[]
Connie and Steven are launched off the track as the carts smash into Steven's bubble. Steven refers to this ride as the "Kiddy Coaster" because it is slow and has a gentle ellipse shape.
"Too Short to Ride"[]
It is shown that this ride requires a height test that Steven, Amethyst, and Peridot fail to meet. Later on, Onion attempts to set fire to the Appalachian with torches. This is hinted to have happened before since Mr. Smiley is heard shouting, "No! I'm still paying off the last lawsuit!"
"I Am My Mom"[]
It can be seen in the background as Steven and the Gems look for Aquamarine and Topaz.
"Guidance"[]
Cherry Quartz use her left arm to measure the height next to the sign that it says "You must be this tall to ride" for the children at the entrance of the ride. Steven puts Larimar in charge of the ride, to her excitement. However, she accidentally lets the carts go too fast, causing the ride to fall apart. Smoky Quartz manages to save the passengers before the carts launch into the ocean. The carts are later seen floating along the beach with Onion still in tow.
Trivia[]
- Its namesake refers to the major mountain chain lining the East Coast, where Beach City is located.
Cultural References[]
- The snow-skiing dog that appears on the side of the ride may be a reference to Pug Davis, another project created by Rebecca Sugar.
- The name "The Appalachian" is possibly a reference to the popular amusement park ride, "Himalaya", which is also named after a mountain range. The two rides are also similar in design.
