Steven is the character of his titular show, "Steven Universe", but there are several mysteries surrounding him. For example, he calls himself "Half-gem, half-human", but first of all, HOW IS THIS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE? I proved in an earlier theory that gems' bodies are made of energy so compressed it forms matter. Quantum physics says trying to make energy form bonds with matter just doesn't work. Plus, if Steven really is half-human half-gem, wouldn't he be missing a few essential organs you need to be human? Plus, he shows many more human qualities than gem qualities. He needs to sleep, eat, and drink, while gems don't need to do any of this, and the few gem qualities he does show seem to be... held back.
I believe that he isn't half and half, but more of a human with gem qualities. Well, let's talk energy buffering for a second. Let's say you have a copper wire, a germanium wire, and a glass wire. Copper conducts electricity very well, so if you were to use a copper wire to conduct electricity, you would expect good results. Germanium is still good, but not as good, so you would expect average results. Glass does conduct electricity, but very slowly, and much of the electricity gets "stuck" in it. You shouln't keep your hopes up for the glass wire.
In this case, Steven is the glass wire. The gems conduct their energy because their bodies are already made of energy, and that's how their powers work so well. Steven's human body, with all its organs and stuff, would be a terrible energy conductor, but stuff would still get through. This is why his powers work better in crisi (is that plural for crisis?). His gem generates more energy, and therefore more gets thorugh. If he was at least part gem, it would still work a lot better than it does now. It's simple math and science, really.
But then, how was he born? Maybe it's too avoid getting slapped with a PG-13 rating, but the details of Steven's birth have never really appeared on the show. Do you have an idea? Reply in the comments with it, and DFTBA!
