  • As the title says, what do you think that green glow in the preview was coming from that Steven was so amazed at? Personally, I think it's the Centipeetle Mother, but I'm sure all of you have different theories. Please move this discussion on another board if I didn't place it in the right one; I'm fairly new to the forum on this wiki.

    • Since he's at the kindergarten (though we don't know why), we can assume it's peridot.

        Loading editor
    • Unless the Marble Madness episode proves otherwise, I've got three theories for what that green glow signifies:

      1. Peridot has returned and Steven is flabbergasted by her. Evidence, preview clips have shown flask robonoids and a giant one in particular, plus Peridot is green.

      2. Centipeetle Mother returns and Steven brings centipeetle to kindergarten in a attempt to uncorrupt her. That glow represents his efforts were successful.

      3. A whole new gem character is revealed. The episode is returning to kindergarten and there were a lot of gem holes, perhaps one still had a newly created gem there.

        Loading editor
    • Or the green glow is Peridot

        Loading editor
    • I like the idea that Steven finds something out thanks to Pearl about how the Kindergarten is where gems were taken and became corrupted, so Steven thinks that maybe gems can be un-corrupted somehow, so he takes the Centipeetle Mother's gem to the Kindergarten and he accidentally drops the gem by one of the machines that Pearl and Amethyst accidentally activated in "On The Run" and the gem is healed and becomes uncorrupted and that's what the glow is?

As for why they are on the big flask robonoid thingy, I'm guessing could be because they begin to reactivate and all come together to make one big one to fix the Galaxy Warp (Because of the whole exploding star thing) and the gems try to stop it? I don't know...

I don't think there will be a new gem this episode though :P But hey, maybe?

Nice, but I thought Peridot wasn't going to come back until the season finale. Sorry for asking, but where did you see that Peridot is confirmed to return in Marble Madness?

I'm kind of split between wanting either Peridot or Centipeetle to be the focal point of this episode. I really wanna find out what gem Centipeetle is and more info on Peridot.

lol, I like your idea about what purpose the giant flask robonoid is, it very well may be true.

As for the new gem theory, yeah, just tossing out there since Steven was at kindergarten. XD

Cool, it'd be nice if Peridot was to return in Marble Madness, but those clips might just be playing with our expectations. I think Peridot will return either this episode or during one of the season finale episodes with other homeworld gems.

Agreed, both Peridot and Centipeetle are quite interesting. They deserve to become more fully developed side characters. Peridot in particular because I heard one of the SU crew on Twitter accused a fan of judging her to be an antagonist too quickly. Peridot did rather mercilessly crush that damaged robonoid though, that was cold as ice.

Yes Peridot could be cold because of how she was treated or she lost somebody so important in her life (maybe they died in battle or a war or they corrupt or went off planet, leaving her). You would be that way if nobody was nice to you and some people change when a loved one dies. She may have a soft side or we will get a relapse of her old personality before the "thing" happened.

    • @Grabbergirl,

I'm willing to give Peridot the benefit of the doubt, especially after that one member of the SU kind of condemned us for viewing Peridot as a antagonist when she's only had a very small role in the show so far.

Peridot only crushed a flask robonoid, a cold thing to do but not enough to be deemed, "This be bad gem, shoot on sight." If Peridot was to do something similar to a human though? Yeah, I'd go from liking Peridot, to hoping she gets taken out by a human thanks to Karmatic justice.

I'm interested to find out why Peridot appeared so emotionless, pretty much terminator levels of robotic emotion.

Peridot did make plenty of facial expressions, more than Garnet (who is rather stoic and emotionless and occasionally makes a face). Yeah we can tell how she felt, so I wouldn't say emotionless.

Yeah I bet Peridot was different back then maybe she is taking out the loss or poor treatment on her flask robonoid.

It would be but it'd be unlikely. Matt Burnett said she's not really "evil", she may be like the cool aunt to Steven.

    • Personally I think that on the way to bringing the droid back to the temple, it is so heavy that it crushes the warp pad or is too big to fit so they have to move it somehow and the shortest route is through the Kindergarten where the droid reacts and causes it too open in a smilar way to the others (How they revealed the nozzle that sprayed the regeneratice goop) to reveal some artifact related to the crystal gems or Rose. (The green glow would likely be coming from the inside of the droid.)

Pearl keeps on worrying about the flask robonoids (or whatever, let's call them roundies) So, Amethyst, annoyed by Pearl's constant worrying, dumps them off at the Kindergarten, Pearl finds out later and they all have to go to the Kindergarten, then they discover they have all fused into a giant roundie and it's glow is so beautiful Steven is so amazed ( or something ) then they decided they need to take it away so they begin moving it away from the Kindergarten but then by the near-end of the episode, it explodes, Amethyst is covered in it and chases Pearl....

      Or something?

Sure, she's only a distance equal to 50 years of travel away. I'm 99.9% sure she couldn't make it to Earth again in a week or two or the Crystal Gems wouldn't have had to blow up the Galaxy Warp.

Sharayna is right; Peridot came from Homeworld, and it's Warp Pad was severly cracked by Garnet, rendering it unusable. Since all the other Warp Pads are unusable, there is no possible way that Peridot (or any other Homeworld Gem) can return to Earth.

True, Peri can't teleport back to earth due to the galaxy warp being smashed by Garnet (possibly destroyed by the shooting star)

The Centipeetle Mother isn't dead, she's just regenerating in her Gem. If the Centipeetle Mother had already finished regenerating, you only need to pop the bubble in order to release her. So there is still a possiblity that it is the Centipeetle Mother (but might not be the case)

        Loading editor
    • The Galaxy warp was obliterated by the shooting star so there's no way for them to use that to travel to Earth.

In Space Race we learned that it would take Pearl and Steven around 25 years to reach the Gem homeworld. It's safe to assume that the rocket Pearl built; while being poorly designed, traveled faster than Lapis Lazuli can fly. I would say that it's safe to say Lapis is not even a quarter of the way back home yet.

The Centipeedle is still bubbled but it's still entirely possible that Steven will pop the bubble to check and see if his friend is finished regenerating and it will run away and use the warp pad to make its way to the Kindergarten. Though it is highly unlikely since it seems that the episode will revolve around the large object the Crystal Gems were seen moving in the previews.

Personally, I think that it is just another typical gem monster that they must deal with. I'm not sure about the glow but I'm positive that it does not have anything to do with Peridot or the Centipeedle. We'll have to wait and see.

Steven was anything but anxious when he was talking to Peridot. Was quite arrogant (confident? Prideful? Who knows?) really, believing the actions he took would bring out the best of results, but ultimately turned out unfavorably for the CGs. Also really dumb, he never really weighed the consequences brought about by his actions. But he did it all in good will, so yeah . . .

A little too anxious if you ask me. Steven should've listened to the Crystal Gems, now he just made a bad situation worse by giving Peridot all this Intel on Earth, humanity, and the Crystal Gems. There's gonna be repercussions for this next week.
