    • I thought this was a nice little breather episode, and after the last two episodes, and what I hear about next week's episodes, we needed this.

This was a throwback to old cartoon shorts from like the 40's and 50's. And baby Sour Cream still has the same voice. And Steven maybe it is a good thing Rose didn't raise you, she is not exactly a very attentive parent.

I always thought Greg and Vidalia's relationship very unique, and no I don't mean a man and female being platonic friends, I mean the person they meet through was the guy that knocked Vidalia up, that I found weird and you would think that would be awkward for them to be around each other. I wonder,I think the reason Greg was in Vidalia and Sour Cream's life was because he feels guilty for what Marty did and maybe blames himself because if it wasn't for him, Vidalia would never had meet Marty. So in Marty's place, he is going to do the right thing by them, and I think he did what he could until she meet Yellow Tail. Wouldn't surprise me if Greg introduced Yellow Tail and Vidalia to each o, if that is true and Steven find out, would give him more reason why he wants to play cupid like with Lars and Sadie.

I love the Little Butler came on, though I wish we got to see Amethyst and Vidalia interaction, and see more of the towns when they were younger like that Gravity Falls episode "Bledin's Game", it would be cool to see what people like Kofi, and Fryman looked like back than, we already seen what Mr. Smiley looked like when he was younger.

This episodes shows that Rose is not perfect, that have build Rose up as this goddess, but here she never looked more ironically human than ever before.

A nice little fun episode, it wasn't as deep as the other Greg flashback episodes, but it didn't need to be and we needed a break after the last two episodes, just make us laugh. I don't get the end joke of what ever happened to baby Sour Cream, what they know who Sour Cream is. If Steven asked whatever happened to that baby implying he didn't know who Greg was baby sitting for, that could work, it just made no sense.

A nice way to end week 2.

    • I think this was so wonderful. I love seeing Rose and how when it came to Humans she really wasn't perfect. I dunno why, but it makes me love her more.

I think this is where Rose began thinking about a baby for sure.

And the fact that she said "What an amazing power to be able to grow up" is a clue that Steven will be able to age if he chooses to. That it is a power he has that Rose didn't.

    • I have one word for this episode: "Meh" (;

Seriously though, while there is not a lot of action, it does provide more insight into Greg and Rose's relationship as well as life, because it is true that we all need to grow up. I also liked how Rose said that every moment people get to invent who they are. Baby Sour Cream was cute, and it was funny how he had his adult voice.

    • One big question this episode brought to me: was Rose aware that she eventually had to give up her physical form giving birth to a son when she decided trying to have one? Or did she realized that only in the middle of her pregnancy?

Plus, I really hate that this is still a kid show, because now I would really really love to see Greg teaching Rose about the joy of THE BEES AND THE FLOWERS, and how these human things work...

    • And that was both Greg the Babysitter, and Week 2 of Summer of Steven. How does it hold up? ...By the unwashed golf balls of Thor, you bet it does! I admit Week 1 essentially took it slow, but here is where the summer really starts to kick off! Ironic, since summer's almost over now, but I digress.

Restaurant Wars and Kiki's Pizza Delivery Service essentially kept up the trend of being good episodes, but mostly filler (say for further confirmation that Steven's a non-deadly Freddy Kruger).

Monster Reunion's when the summer really started to kick it into high gear; giving us new insight into how the corruption process works, and just how it happened to begin with. Also, it gave me whole new reasons to despise the Diamonds.

Alone at Sea continued this high-gear trend, giving us more Lapis and having her finally stand up for herself against Jasper. As for Jasper herself...eh, my guess is we'll be seeing a follow-up to what happened to her next week; she was sent flying, but not in the way she hoped. XD

And finally, Greg the Babysitter gave us some new insight into the relationship between the Onion family and the Crystal Gems. Not to mention, a nice look at Vidalia in a younger form NOT being the groupie of Marty. Not to mention, it also gave us some insight into why Rose rebelled to begin with; seeing earthlings as a whole new possibility to explore. This goes a bit out to explaining why she decided to essentially reincarnate herself as Steven. And let's not kid ourselves here, guys, that's exactly what she did.

But now, Week 3 is just around the corner. And if the next few titles have taught me anything, we're in for a BUMPY RIDE!

Take what you will from this analysis and decide on your own. Meantime, I'm mentally preparing myself for this admittedly short season coming to a head.

He could I mean super speed could be a power, maybe that was just a small portion maybe he can go fast. Also sapphire may have a sort or super speed but I don't think it can compare to what Steven maybe able to do, his power outpass mostly all of the other gems powers when it comes to these sort of things, the CGs are fighters but Steven is something better, a protecter and healer.

If it costed him his life, that would pretty much be the series finale. A very sad one though, because the main character dies... unless Steven somehow gets brought back to life himself.

While I agree Steven has been becoming OP recently, I don't think he'll have this power, nor do I think a character will die. I could be wrong, but we'll just wait and see.

Ok, but from On the Run, we get that:

Steven: But I thought Gems were from space?

Amethyst: Pearl and Garnet are, but I was made here on Earth, *smiles* like you! *gasps* Check it out! *runs to a giant rock* *laughing* Oh, man. I missed this guy. Aww! It's my climbing rock.

Steven: *to the climbing rock* Uh, hello!

Amethyst: *points to slightly smaller rock* And over there— That's the sitting rock. *points to offscreen rocks* And that was the one rock that I kicked into two rocks! *climbs the climbing rock and sits atop it*

Steven: Uh, how long did you live here?

Amethyst: For a while, I guess, um, at least until I met your mom and the others. *flops off of rock* *laughs and runs further into the Kindergarten*

So it seems before meeting the Cristal Gems, Amethyst knew nothing of what she was "supposed to be". Maybe Rose assumption about Gem's biological (or geological?) determinism is a social construction from Homeworld?

Or maybe gems know the basic gist of what they're supposed to do and what they're supposed to be when they first pop out of the ground but since no one was there to guide Amethyst and explain stuff like how she's very small for an Amethyst and how to behave she just sort of figured stuff out on her own and did what she wanted so when Rose found her and saw that she didn't know what she was supposed to be Rose and the others decided to not tell her that she was overcooked

    • I guess we can speculate Greg's age. He said the mudnado was 15 years ago, and that he met the gems when 21. Vidalia got pregnant of SC when Greg was 21 too.

Baby SourCream was around one year old and Greg was 22/23 (As Vidalia got pregnant when he was 21)

Sour Cream seems to be from 18 to 22 years old.

      All possibilities for Greg's age:

      38/39 (If SC is 18)

      39/40 (If SC is 19)

      40/41 (If SC is 20)

      41/42 (If SC is 21)

      42/43 (If SC is 22)

However I do remember once, when I was 5 or 6, finding an odd container at a construction site. I was just begining to learn how to read, so I took it home to show my mother.

    • "Greg The Babysitter" was the opposite of "Alone at Sea". It may have been another slice-of-life episode, but it was unpredictable AND it revealed many (minor) facts about the show and made me laugh more than once. Favorite moment: when Rose explains why she finds humans so fascinating.

Oh, snap. I forgot to think about that, when I watched this episode.

And yeah, in Onion Friend, Vidalia did said Gerg "used to be super hot".

If Vidalia "did" had some feelings about Greg before and when Greg came to her house, why wasn't she being cool to Greg and not flirting with him a little?? We only seen her acking a little jealous and being cocky to Greg. )-:\

I ment how old he is now. I know how old young greg is.

Well depending on the year Steven was born, and how old he is and we know that, Steven is 14 years old, and that means born in 2002 correct, so we take how old he was when he meet the gems, and that is 22 and what year we was 22 in is unknown but sour cream was a baby durning that so he was probably 1 year old at that time, so we can figure out both sour creams and Gregs age is we figure out what year it was the this episode took place. And I think we know, it was the 1980s right, so we just figure out his age in this episode, and that was probably 25 so what was it well then we need to look at when Greg said that mud-nato was and that was 15 years ago, so we have 22, 14, 15 and 1980, so let's see, Greg got the job during the year 1986 becuase I rewatched the episode. Looked up the phone Vidalia was useing when she got the call, and most pics and things match that phone to that year. So with this and a couple other things that match that years tech, so if Greg got the job in the year 1986, that means we need to talk happend a couple years earlyer and the same with story for Steven, I lead those two episodes happening in the same year, that year being 1983 So if this all added up, if Greg was 22 in the year 1983, three years later he was 25 in this episode, the year 1986, and that is 14 years before the year 2000, so he is 39 in the year 2000 add two for the year Steven was born, and that is 41 years old at the year 2002, and finally add 14 years becuase it is 2016 in this episode, leading to Greg being 55 in current times, it does all add up, so Greg is 55 in the year 2016, if not he is atleast in his late 50s

It certainly makes sense and fits what he looks like!  We can at least assume that "Story for Steven" and "Greg the babysitter" are nine months apart maybe a bit more looking at SC's development.  The only issue that arises is that if SC was born in 1985/86 there abouts that would make him 30/31 in the present, and he does not look aged to 30.  Of course this could all take place in the 90's for all we know, maybe the Gems never updated their appearance for a decade, or the timeline of the SU Earth is different from the real Earth.

Yeah sour cream does have an issue, but I have an explanation for that, he just looks young, I mean some people just look young but are way older, but SU earth's layout is diffrent but maybe the tech isn't, I mean Steven has a current cell phone and all that jazz, so maybe sour cream is 30-31 and he just looks young, but buck and Jenny are both younger, I think they are 26-27 or so
