  • Greeting SU wiki, this is handsome weatherman Evtini here for our fandom forecast. I've been looking through our previous weather reports and have founds some interesting weather patterns. I'll share them with your here.

Day of annoucement- "WHAT A CROSSOVER WITH UG THIS IS GONNA SUCK!!!!" (News exclusive pretty much to the wiki)

Few weeks later- News reaches Tumblr. "OMG THIS GONNA SUCK SU IS RUINED FOREVER!!!!!"

About a month later (few weeks until crossover)- "Lets just pretend it's not canon"- SU Wiki. "ITS GONNA SUCK I HATE SU NOW!!!"-Tumblr. "OMG THERE'S GONNA BE A CROSSOVER ITS GONNA SUCK!!!"-YouTube.

Week of- "You know, this might be good"- SU Wiki. "I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS TRASH AS CANON!!!"-Tumblr. (I'll be honest, I stopped keeping track of Youtube)-YouTube. "Holy crap an SU and UG crossover!"-Little kids who just found out.

After the crossover- "OMG THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER!!!"-Most people.

As you can see from these reports gathered by yours truly, the UG storm made short work of our home here at the SU Wiki but we bounced back in due time. It then reached Tumblr and did significant damage to the fanbase there. The YouTube community took the hit towards the end after we at home were getting back on our feet. By the time it reached the kids outside the internet, it had all but disappeared.

Still, lets not forget that yours truly, handsome weatherman Evtini, predicted all of this. Thank you and good morning SU Wiki. Genius, handsome, weatherman Evtini signing out!

I'm 15, and thought it was actually pretty funny. I liked the references to us older fans as well.

    • I was worried but it turned out better than I thought. Greatest episode ever...not so much but I'm sure many people will be changing their tune now that the episode has aired.

That tends to happen everywhere though. Bad thing is announced-Fandom Flips their respective s**t-episode airs-silence-Not Bad

Reminds me of the Alicorn incident in a certain other fandom, just not nearly as much fallout and obsession.

    • I think it was an okay Uncle Granpa episode.

It ended up being more Uncle Grandpa than Steven Universe. So it would've maybe worked better if it where an episode of that show and not one of SU.

      Could've been wackier though.

"us older fans" You're 15. You're not a part of the older side of any fandom.

I watched the cartoon-cartoons while growing up. Does that satisfy you? Also I'm pretty sure I'd be on the older side haha. Doesn't sound like you are though.

    • I've been watching this episode while writing this, the episode had a lot to do with what we've all been arguing about. In the end it was a really good episode and it stayed true to both cartoons. I judged too early and changed what I thought about it. It was pretty good and Pearls reactions were too hilarious not to watch. Not to mention thousand of references made about EVERY child hood cartoon. (except Clarence)

    • Don't break a hand jerking yourself off there pal. lol, I kid, I kid.

But I'm totally serious when I say that the crossover was argubably the worst episode in the entire series. Now don't freak out, I know you must've liked this episode and I'm NOT saying its bad. Overall, thanks to the amazing writing on this show it managed to pull off something very decent, IMO, it was very very "Eh", but objectively I must say it proved okay to even really good in some regards.

Its just, you can't show me a single other episode of SU that is worse than this one, then again, you can't really show me an episode I consider to be "bad" in general, and that includes this one.

Personally, I loved the first few minutes of this episode. There's some seriously good highlights in here, like The Lars/Sadie "Ship" sinking, UG unveiling the episode as non-canon, Gus' "Gemsona", "That's not mah babeh!" - Pearl and Amethyst literally eating Pizza Steve. Pretty good stuff. But where I found it grating to watch was...pretty much everywhere else. The Gem's personalities, as "I" called, weren't very well suited for UGs brand of humor and for me they came off as just wacky and out of place in their own show. I like UG overall but it doesn't translate well here with their interactions and I found the majority of the episode to be plodding along until it just kinda ended unceremoniously.

Basically what made this episode salvageable was the red hot writing talent of the show's staff and nothing else really. In the end I'd give it a 65/100 or 2.8/5 Stars or whatever metric you wanna use to describe it as "Alright".
