    • If they managed to merge shards of the same gem, it would be possible.

    • Maybe they don't have all of them, or just haven't thought of it yet.

    • I'm unsure if they even touched PD's shards ever since the day she was shattered. Maybe they wanted to keep them in honor of her passing.

    • Hmm...I do wonder what they did with her shards....

    • Put them in lion lol.

    • Wait a second: if they used all the shards from the same gem, fused them together through whatever eldritch science they used to do so AND added Rose's tears/Steven's saliva to them; would it be possible to restore a shattered gem to life???

I'm not sure. Even if they did try that eldritch science, it took thousands of years for the Cluster Prototypes to emerge.

Well, take into account that they had to be manually released by Peridot and that the Kindergarten had been abandoned by thousands of years too. Perhaps they were ready long time ago, but they couldn free themselves. Even if they need the thousands of years... well, your average gem is already thousands of years old

    • They wouldn't use different gem types, and would mostly focus on the halflife and stability of the fusion, not the variety. Every aspect of the sanity in the Diamond's mind that they want to be preserved.

The Cluster is intended to be a planetary-class weapon, perhaps even a massive bomb. It is not required for the Cluster to be an intelligent sentient being at all.

We don't know why YD or the Diamond Authority chose the Cluster as the project to be develop, instead of another one of a similar destruction power as the Corrupting Light. While most info remains unclear, we can assume some options:

      1) It works like an beam amplifier or a mirror for another light beam weapon.

      2) It works like a swarm, invading another Systems, planets, then exploding, releasing all their gems across the surface. This could also work as means to expand their race. It can also devour a planet due the fact it's a massive life being.

      3) It works like a massive bomb, erasing all life around it's range.

      4) It works as part of a device able to shoot a Corrupting Light.

What I meant is that, what if they grabbed a bunch of random shards to see what would happen if they were mashed together, and if it worked, they could try to do the same with PD's shards, if they have them.

But also, they would be using the Cluster to get rid of the Earth because of trauma and yadda yadda yadda
