It is an important issue to discuss with kids but well this isn't Static Shock where the writers just wrote what they wanted in a kid friendly way as a compromise so they could talk about racism, school shootings etc., and people in this day and age tend to have thin skin like paper thin skin. However, if they play their cards right maybe they can talk about suicide with Pink Diamond. I mean technically shattered Gems aren't really dead but rather in that state between life and death but they have to tread carefully,
What purpose would have Pink Diamond shattering herself (intentionally) add to the narrative? I don't really want the show to become a PSA about teenage troubles or whatever, because while the show has dealt with controversial subject matter, it never felt like an awkward aesop for an activist's agenda. Ruby and Sapphire and Greg and Rose feel natural to me, and their bonds benefit the overall plot.
If they do delve into suicide, which I don't really see a reason to, Pink Diamond is not the best choice, but is a convenient one since she's already "dead".
Yeah besides I honestly don't know how else they could approach the subject. Pink's the easiest option but she really didn't seem like she was anything other than angry and Blue likely would've seen the signs and done something. Then there's Rose but considering that she died to give birth to Steven that'd just mess the kids up. Everyone else either doesn't show the signs or would have too many unfortunate implications
Also just thought I'd be clear and say I don't even nessercally believe the PD shattered herself theory, im kinda more indiffrent until we find more clues, but I thought I'd bring it up since I feel I've seen the theory quite a few times
I don't think they'll ever show an actual suicide on the show because obviously it's still a show for kids would be way to heavy for them, it's really heavy for adults even too.the show came pretty dang close though when Bismuth pressed the Breaking Point against her gem.
