  • I stumbled upon this reddit thread which has a link to a tumblr post which has a screenshot of an Instagram post that shows that a VA was recording this August: https://www.reddit.com/r/stevenuniverse/comments/cqvzkq/a_va_new_to_the_show_johnny_hawkes_was_recording/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=comments_view_all

Given the fact that change your mind is said to have been recorded in 2017 and how with each hiatus the gap between production and release gets larger, this mean that this episode would likely be released in spring 2021 at the earliest. So either there is another sequel series after this or they’re pulling an Infinity Train on us. Also something else to notes is that all articles on the Steven Universe movie say it’s the “first televsion movie” rather than the movie which suggests there could be another Steven Universe movie. There’s also the nine season plan. And also I think they would feel obligated to tell us excplicity if the show was ending. They would never let something like that leak from an art book title. Also the way the show is described is not what Rebecca and Ian described when saying what cane next. I think this is essentially an epilogue to this story that ended in Change your mind and is essentially an extension of the first show and then there will be a sequel series which is the “something new, something different” that Rebecca and Ian described. Overall I think we can’t assume the franchise is over unless we have solid evidence. They would straight up say “final season” if it were the case.

    • As much as I want the series to continue on... In the end we lost!

I'm sorry for being mad but please don't give me hope...

Unless Rebecca said it is "the end" officially remains unknown.

I don't want to go on SDCC 2020 only to come for nothing...

Well, Zach is a musician, I suppose he’d get back to the music biz. He’s apparently voicing a character on a show that came out a few days ago, it’s on Netflix.

Dragons Rescue Riders. I personally won’t watch it, and judging from the animation, it seems to be directed to a younger audience. But check it out if you want!

But this is straight up PROOF. If an episode was recorded this August it would come out in like 2021 or something. Change your mind was recorded in 2017. A miniseries wouldn’t last that long unless there’s another show after the miniseries or they’re pulling an infinity train and it isn’t a ministries. Either way, it’s clear form the post that if this franchise does end, it won’t be until 2021 or later. Also the crewniverse would likely straight up tell us when it’s ending because they wouldn’t want to give false hope.

Probably not a good idea to go in the first place if only 1 thing there interests you.

When I said "I don't want to go on SDCC 2020" I meant not looking at or staying away from Youtube, Google or any news in the internet. I'll get my hopes crushed.

There is a reason why I have doubts of your "PROOF". I've watched Cartoon Universe's vids and their videos said to me for the 3rd time in a row(currently) that, "Zach Callison is leaving the industry for at least 2 years" or at least "taking a break from SU for now"

While DetectiveAquamarine said he’d get back to the music biz. I don't look forward for any new SU content in 2020 or 2021 after Future...

Exactly. Also, I didn’t outright say he’d go back to music, I just theorised it. Something I theorised before I had heard the news. Sorry for the nag there!

    • Based on a reply Toon Ruins(who went to the book singing) to a comment on one of her videos, it seems that Rebecca Sugar wants to make something after Steven Universe Future but that it hasn’t even started production yet and is still in the concept phase. This is likely due to the fact that because Zach Callison is taking a break from the industry, Rebecca can’t make any new SU content. However, because of the recording evidence, it seems that Steven Universe Future may be as long as season 1 of Steven Universe because Zach only just started this break and since episodes tend to air like two years after production starts, that means Steven Universe Future will likely finish airing in 2021 and since his break is also like two years that means that production would start like 3-6 months after the last episode of Future airs. So after SU Future we will have the wait a long time but we won’t have to worry about that for quite a bit. It seems most likely that Future is a two season deal, which would still be in the realm of “limited series” .

    • Now I know what SU's speculated fate after Future.

It can be on comic form or They will do what Adventure Time did with Distant Lands in HBO Max. Are you okay if any SU content or special coming to HBO Max or any streaming platform?

Okay fine let's talk about spinoffs after Future... I speculate these two spinoffs!

Spinel and her Other Friends (Starring Spinel, The 3 Diamonds, Pink Pearl and other Homeworld Gems) - These people will explore the vast majority of Homeworld and the Colonies for us! While producing more hijinks and giggles (and hopefully battles)

Lars and the Off Colors - These people will also explore other lifeforms other than Gems for example the Snake People (if they want to...) while also focusing other stuff like cooking, baking, etc.

They can hold the line for the SU franchise...

    • I think the main reason why we will have to wait so long is that Zach Callison is so depressed he’s quitting the industry for 2 years so they will probably stretch Future out into 2021 so that we will have to wait only 2 years after Future and not 3 or 4. However we could get Steven less spinoffs sooner or if they recast Steven we could get something right after Future(but again remember Future will last into 2021). I think we will get a full on sequels series and it will likely feature an adult Steven after a much larger time skip and will be a brand new story about some new alien race  but will still feature the same characters but also new ones. Lars and Sadie will probably be married and have children, a few of the gems will have married humans and had other hybrids, and I think Steven might have a stepparent, likely Barb or Bismuth, or maybe someone else we haven’t met, and maybe a half sibling. A bunch of things would have changed off screen and there might be suddenly more Crystal Gems that joined offscreen.

    • Ding! You figured it out! Congratulations Anonymous!

Me and the other users are talking about it in Memin's thread about the issue while waiting for your reaction Anon. That is why I doubt for this franchise and will only think of possible spinoffs to hold the line for now.

Recasting Steven would be pretty divisive. It's like recasting Jeremy Shada with another as Finn (Jeremy Shada will forever be our Finn). But if the recast would make Teen Steven appear more I'll take it (even if it's divisive for me) I dunno it's like a double edged sword for me.

Dunno if a show featuring Adult Steven would be a great idea or not unless you are going to Toonami or HBO Max it. I mean Ben 10,000 didn't have his own spinoff/show yet.

I wonder if Future will have Steven-less episodes in it?

    • I really Hope Future isn't the end, but if it is, then so be it, btw, Toon Ruins/Lea C said on twitter a while back the plusses of the story continuing as a comic.  link here https://twitter.com/LeaC_Official/status/1187203955287306241

I wouldn't mind it like that, as long as there is audio with the actors to go with it. maybe big finish productions or someone else.

I would prefer a tv show, maybe on HBO Max, but like was said previously on this thread, WarnerMedia just went through a massive merger, so nothing is official right now

We'll just have to wait and see, and enjoy Steven Universe: Future and what it is offering us

I guess the franchise won't be ending anytime sooner, that's a nice sign as I got into the show post-CYM.

    • I completely agree with Azure. Like, I love the show, but end it when it’s good. Not when it’s overrated from all the dang spinoffs.

        Loading editor
    • Okay fine! A two or three-year hiatus for the Steven Universe franchise then so the crewniverse can recover. Does anyone agree?

        Loading editor
    • No, not really.

    • No, too many complications are possible. The show mustn’t go on.
