We are all exited for this new game, I'm especially exited for Lapis.
Whilst I haven't been able to play the games myself, I still enjoy watching playthroughs and videos that list all the characters fusions and combos, Which is actually something I want to talk about.
As you may know, Save the Light had a lot of fusions and combos between each possible pair of characters. Whilst this is nice, the problem I have is that the combo moves only exist for pairs that don't fuse (at least not at the time). The reason I have a problem with this is because it not only makes the combos look less impressive, but I also think it cheapens the whole concept of what fusion is. Basically, the fusions are just flashy equivalents of combo moves, like this game was made by Jasper.
There's also the problem that since pairs can only be between two characters, Alexandrite didn't fit the game. Which was a huge disappointment to many fans.
Can Unleash the Light fix these problems?
Yes they can. First thing they can do is make fusions and combos two separate things. Every pairing can have at least one non-fusion combo move. Fusions can be treated as separate characters with more then two powers each. Whilst they would need their components to fuse in order to exist, they wont be dependent on the players building bonds between only two characters. That way Alexandrite and Obsidian can be in the game without problem.
So, do you agree with me? Should Unleash the light treat fusions and combos as two separate gameplay mechanics? Or are you happy with how it is?
