So far, all I have seen is a relationship based on lies and manipulation. He treats he like a doormat by making her do his work and has even feigned a back injury to do so. She hid a warp pad so she would be trapped on an island with her. Them making out was out of fear of never getting off the island and loneliness.
If I could compare their relationship to anyone else's, it would be the Joker and Harley Quinn's. Lars has Sadie believing that she is in love with him and that he loves her back, when the truth is that Lars is just using her. He is immature and cares only about how the world see's him, which was shown in "Horror Club" the best.
Sadie is a hormonal teen not completely in control of her emotions. I have a good feeling that this is her first relationship and still hasn't learned how to be more confident and less submissive to the will of the male role. As this is her first relationship she has no one to compare Lars to, thus can judge if this "relationship" is good or bad. In my opinion, Ronaldo is better for her.
I couldn't think of a better example than Harley and Joker. I really meant the emotional and psychological aspects. Lars has Sadie believing that their relationship is good but anytime the relationship is the main focus of the episode, she is put into tears. Lars then says a few things to apologize and keeps her believing everything is working out, but, Lars is a butt and thinks of only trying to look popular.
First of all-BOTH Lars and Sadie have a lot to work on. Sadie trapped Lars AND Steven on a island-that's insane if you ask me. Secondly-Sadie has shed tears once-ONCE-she has only been "put to tears" in Joking Victim. Lars on the other hand has been put to tears: once, twice....Over four times in SU! Also, Lars has never said sorry or "apologized" but hey, actions speak louder than words. Lars has always been seen to be regretful and always does what he can to make up for his mistakes. (Helping Sadie clean up the mess he caused, being nicer to Steven, etc.)
Sadie is also slowing moving back and letting Lars deal with things himself-shown in "Horror Club". Sadie knows that he needs self-confidence to outwardly become a sweeter person, but she knows that he needs to get there himself.
Both Lars and Sadie aren't perfect-they are wonderfully flawed, developing characters who are obviously both comfortable with each other as friends, and if they both work on bettering themselves, maybe they could get a romantic relationship going. In a way, they are perfect for each other.
You seem to be getting a little hostle with that "First of all." No need dude, let's keep it friendly. I see where you are coming and respect your viewpoint and I hope you can respect mine, even if you don't agree.
Sadie's primary plan was to trap herself with Lars and Steven just happened to be an innocent bystander in all this.
My opinion on this is I'm just not into their relationship, but, I do want to see what happens and hope that the writers can somehow make their relationship go from troubled to loving. I'm all about the happy.
Sorry, I didn't mean so sound hostile...I was just getting a little passionate. :(
Don't worry, I promise you that their relationship will be fine-although at this point I can't see them being anything but close friends as they are both very comfortable with each other and seem to make up after every spat they have. But yes, I just want Sadie and Lars to be happy :)
I am very passionate about this show too. Though I should watch them before I go to bed on YouTube because I get dreams set to SU and I'm crying in them. My mother is deceased, so I relate to Steven. In fact this is the first time I started a discussion on this outside of Twitter. Do they have an official fan club?
Awh, This show must strike a emotional chord with you then, I send my condolences... :( Good for you! Twitter can only take you so far xD Who has an official fan club? Because I'm sure everyone has an official fan club.
This cartoon has struck me hard. Music, action scenes, real life situation(interacial relationship(Connie and Steven), what it is like to be a single father, the emotional situations that all three Crystal Gems(especially Amathyst), and death)), and the lightheartedness.
This is definately better than Adventure Time. Glad to see a quality cartoon finally.
