The choice of soft percussion and slow ringing sound effects are likely a result of the fact that this screen is unlikely to be visited often during a playthrough. The melody during the first ambient portion of the track is shared between both an electric and acoustic piano, and pizzicato strings. These instruments are very soft and are hard panned to either the right or left speaker, as to not distract the player from selecting a level on the menu. Afterwards, a bell-like synthesizer jumps center stage to play a similar melody alongside the previous instruments. The sub-bass that was disguised as a kick is also is raised up an octave during this portion, revealing it to actually be a melodic sound.
